0.33 l bottle from ’Rudat’ as ’CREW Republic X 2.3 Barley Wine’, best before March 2018, cellared for one year. Clear, dark reddish amber with lots of floaties and a medium large, frothy, almost stable, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity and a bit herbal-spicy (?) aroma of caramel, red fruits, cough syrup, tea and tise hips. Very sweet, malty, slightly fruity and again a bit herbal-spicy taste of caramel, strawberry jam, cough syrup, rose hips and tea, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, quite warming and a little boozy finish. Full body, oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Rather fruit/herb-accented Barley Wine, quite unusual and not unpleasant, but I couldn’t drink much more than a single bottle of it.
