The name of this beer style comes from the German word “alt” meaning “old”. This refers to the aging that alts undergo since they ferment more slowly and at colder temperatures than most ales. Slow fermentation helps condition the flavors in Alaskan Amber, contributing to its overall balance and smoothness.

Schönes dunkles Kupfer im Glas, Schaum passt. In der Nase malzig, Karamell. Im Trunk setzt sich das fort, Karamellmalz. Süffig süß. Könnte kräftiger sein. Im Abgang röstig.

0.355 l can from 'Beer Republic', best before May 2025. Almost clear, reddish amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity and minimally roasty aroma of caramel, red fruits and traces of bread crust. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly fruity and a little roasty taste of caramel, burnt bread crust, red fruits and traces of wet leaves, followed by a short, slightly bitter, moderately dry finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Solid.

Bottle. Another beer I had in Vegas. Deep amber color. Caramel malt aroma. Taste was more toasted malts than hops. Rather liked this beer even though not great.
