Our Trippel has always been a big, beautiful Belgian-style ale, but in 2015, we tweaked the recipe to include a new yeast variety and even more complex malt profile. This golden beer opens with a bold blast of spicy Noble hops, courtesy of Saaz and Hallertau Mittlefruh, and gives way to the fruity aromas offered by our traditional Belgian yeast. Brewed with Pilsner and Munich malts, Trippel is classically smooth and complex, and sings with a high-note of sweet citrus before a pleasantly dry finish delivers a warm, strong boozy bite. Give Trippel a sip to get you smiling.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy gold with a three finger head. New Belgium nailed it. Tastes and aroma is that of a classic Abbey Trippel.

Bottle from Beer Republic. Nicely estery aroma with soft noble hoppy notes. Rich candied fruits and malt, sugary notes, touch of apple and orange. Moderate bitter and medium sweet. Body is medium. Good one!

This review was imported from my RateBeer ratings.

12 oz. bottle, 8.5% ABV, ENJOY BY: 28JAN24

AROMA: I get moderate scents of banana and bubble-gum, followed by a wisp of clove at the very end. I also noticed that after the head had fully dissipated that I got a fair amount of alcohol scent each time I took a sip. Overall, the aroma is nice but seems a little subdued, to me.

APPEARANCE: Pours a crystal clear, light gold, with a tall, white, tightly packed, head that dissipates very slowly with excellent lacing. I drank this out of a clear Pilsner glass, and I have to say that this is the clearest beer I've ever seen.

TASTE: Mildly sweet with predominant flavors of banana and bubble-gum. There are trace flavors of lemon and apricot, too. But only after the beer has warmed up a bit. Like the aroma, I find the flavors to be a bit subdued.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied with a soft texture. Carbonation is well above average.

OVERALL: I find this to be a nice Belgian Trippel that I will partake of again. Mostly because I bought a 6-pack and I have 5 more left in the fridge. I don't hate the beer, but I have had plenty of other Trippels that I like better. The biggest sticking points for me were the strong alcohol scent (which I disliked) and the subdued flavors. However, the appearance and mouthfeel were winners in my book.

NOTE: The bottle says to serve at 48-50℉. When I first opened the beer it was at 50℉, and by the end of writing my review it was 57℉. Since I wrote my review, based on a beer that was warmer than the suggested temperature, I will try another one after it has had sufficient time to chill in the refrigerator. I'll update my review if the second one provides me with a significantly different experience.

Bottle, 0.355l. Aroma of wheat, yeast, citrus and clove. Pours clear golden color with thin creamy white head, nice lacing and sparkling appearance. Taste starts medium sweet grainy and yeasty, following is dried fruity, spicy and faint herbal, mouthfeel is rather dry, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Very New and very good…

bottle. Translucent gold pour with a large white head that has fair retention. The aroma is strong with white fruits, Belgian yeasts, and spices. The taste is apples, mild spices, buttery breads and a bit of yeast. The palate is full and viscous. Finishes long and bitter-sweet., Overall: Decent Trippel, probably my first choice of an american made one.

Clear gold with small white head, medium to full bodied. Aroma is yeasty, taste is brief citrus then malt and yeast. Dry finish. Enjoyable.
