Draft. Ehh I guess it was OK - I could have used a bit more hoppyness it seemed to lack character.

malty, bread nose, and some nuttiness. slight hops, but nothing really. Light caramel, and thin metallic finish. Thin body, and really nohting to write home about.

From Sep 2007
From my notes of July 30, 2007 at Old Chicago on S Colorado Blvd, Denver.
It poured from 12oz bottle a clear medium gold with a small head of foam that shrinks quickly to just a ring around the glass.
The smell had some hoppy notes as well as some malt.
The taste is balanced to a Tee. The initial flavour was grassy but then some grain and the malt moved in almost immediately to make for some very good balance and smoothness. The finish is dry and crisp and there was a long and pleasing aftertaste. I liked it a lot.

12 oz bottle purchased at Royal in KCMO. Pour is hazed copper golden with a big and noisy three inch off white head. The head is rocky and lasting. Aroma is caramel sweetness, along with floral honey and a touch of grassiness. Pretty sweet malty nose, but clean enough. Taste is the caramel honey sweetness right away, turning toward the floral, which is almost herbal in the back. The finish has some mildly spicy yeastiness poking through. Palate is medium to lighter bodied, very carbonated and the spiced herbal finish. After that clears, the caramel honey comes back out in the finish. The first bottle out of this six pack seemed to have an infection, this one tasted much better and cleaner.

Pours deep amber into an English pint. White micro head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sour malt and resin aromas. Bitter hops upfront turning to a more balanced, lasting caramel and resin finish.

Bottle. Pours with a medium sized off-white head and a clear full golden body. Good lacing left by the head with fair retention. Aroma is light citrus hops, some spices, and a bit bready. Typical Avery malt bill. Taste is very bready and biscuity with a bit of fruits and hop bite. Actually it is fairly high in hops for the style. A bit of astringent malt finish to go along with the floral hop bitterness. Sweetish mid-taste. Pretty drinkable, but not super exciting. A bit too highly carbonated for what I was looking for. Sharp bubbles.

Bottle. Poured amber gold with thick lasting white head. Much lacing. Floral aroma of hops and a bit of yeastiness. Thin hop body with little malt and a little bread. Not much finish, a little more hop and that was all

12 oz. bottle from Wine Warehouse. Medium amber color with almost no head, Fruity grain aroma. Grainy taste with a very bitter hop finish. Sticky feel. Not a favorite.

Wheat, lemon, and rose hip aroma. Hazy golden color, with a thick cream colored head. Whole lemon flavor with hints of oat and grass in the end. Citrus notes untypical of an ESB, but good.
