Wye Valley Bitter (3.7%) rebranded as Pyoneer (3.4%) in March 2025, part of the brewery's 40th Anniversary celebrations.
Formerly known as Wye Valley Bitter, this amber-coloured wonder continues to be a cornerstone of our real ale range, and is a mouthwatering example of a cask-conditioned beer.
Brewed using Maris Otter and Crystal malts together with locally grown Target and Goldings hops, Pyoneer has a delicate hoppy aroma leading on to a full malty flavour and ending in a crisp, clean bitter finish.

Cask pint @ The Boathouse, Shrewsbury as Pyoneer. Pours a deep amber, good cream-coloured head. Decent nutty bitter, some twigs, gentle airy malt sweetness, finishing dry.
06th Dec 2017: Cask @ Salopian, the pub as Wye Valley Bitter. Pours clear gold, small foamy off-white head. Some pleasantly sweet malt on the nose which nestles nicely in character. Balanced and moreish bitter.

Half-pint, cask, in the Crown Inn, Oakengates on 21st Jan 2015. Clear old gold body with a deep white foaming head. Nose is weak, hints of biscuity maltiness and mild floral fruity notes. Taste was fruitier than the aroma intimated, with those biscuit malts also showing from the esters. Light flavours and body depth, but overall a fine session ale.

Cask at the Barrels, Hefeford, 17/10/13. Clear copper golden with a good sized off white head. Nose is biscuit malt, grass, fruity notes, light metallic nip. Taste comprises orchard fruit, biscuit malt, light toffee notes. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light bitterness in the finish. Adequate fayre, good vfm at £1.15 a half in 2013 !

Cask at The Acres, Solihull. Poured a lovely clear golden brown, with a white frothy head and bags of lace. Little in the way of an aroma, but a lovely smooth malty taste with a hint of bitterness that follows through to the palate. A really awesome English bitter and lovely for a session! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
