We’ve got a little goulash in this beer – literally. Don’t expect anything ordinary – Like a Goulash is a beer trip into Hungarian cuisine. Gose in a postmodern coat, where tomatoes, peppers, onions, carrots and a good dose of goulash spice meet.
In the beer world, there’s occasionally room for madness – and Like a Goulash is just that. Imagine a beer that smells and tastes like a trip to a Hungarian kitchen. Our friend Botond from Hungarian brewery B*Bop Fermentory and I thought we’d try something you don’t often see – a goulash-inspired beer. We chose Gose as our base, a slightly sour and salty beer style originally from Germany. We added a lot of tomato passata, onions, peppers, carrots and most importantly authentic goulash spices – Hungarian paprika, tarragon, caraway seeds, bay leaf, pepper and allspice. The result is a beer extravaganza that, while still remaining beer, is on the edge of culinary experimentation. Is it beer? It is. Is it a goulash? Sort of. Don’t hesitate to taste an experience you won’t soon forget.

Can. I bought it just for fun, to open it next to a real bográcsgulyás in the garden, with no expectations...and indeed it was fun but just wasted money :D
Color is red, little foam disappearing. Aroma is tomato, paprika, carrot. Taste too, like a cold vegetable soup. So actually it fits with the name.
Just useless and barely drinkable, after a couple of sips we all threw it away in the grass. Not to mention it costs about 10 euro the can...but I will keep the can as a memory :D

0.5 l can and a huge thanks to Marko who managed to find it and bring it from Prague, shared with Ogi and him. Hazy phosphorescent orange, minimal head. Aroma is red pepper, chilli, paprika, black pepper, hints of vegetables, some lemon peel, a soft fruity candy carrot touch but also - like a gulaš! Light body, salty, mineral, quite thin. Oily touch. Flavour is tomato paste, paprika, bell pepper, black pepper, rock salt, mineral. Soft tartness. Thinner than expected. Dry salty lightly tart finish.

Can. Sea buckrhthorn orange, no hops. Aroma of red pepper, tomato, spices, onion. Taste is red pepper, tomato, onion, carrots, spices. Very decadent, interesting in good way.

Shared can at Justicna tasting. Red peppery aroma and taste, onion, tomato, light smoky notes, light to medium sour and bitter. Medium to full body, red pepper vegetably bitter and sour finish. Weird.

On tap at BPBW 2025. Neon red coloured, minimal off-white head, tomato and light pepper in the nose. Tomato, pepper, light basil and touch of salt with dryish finish. It is goulash.

Can at Maly pivo. Lots of tomato and green pepper in this one, spices, pepper, etc. People are complaining about lack of meat and apparent presence of carrot. I dont really know man, it is a goulash gose. It tastes like one. Decadent enough, tasty enough, all good with me.

Tap at BPBW 2025. Shiny orange body, not much head. Smells like goulash, vegetal in a solid way. BIt flat, peppery goulash taste, spot on really, but wasn't a fan of the body. Will try it again though!
