Cask at Wellington, Brum. Opaque yet dark and glossy. Beige head retreats to the rim. Aroma has cacao with a light tangy edge. Also coffee. Flavourwise the berries lead the way followed by creamy mocha. Medium bodied. Stick to creamy. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Nice.

York Beer Festival 2025, Beer#1. Black, regular milky style stout, which comes in a little understated with a weak mouthfeel..

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours almost black with minimal scummy cream head. There’s roasted malts in the aroma plus ginger and parkin. In the mouth it is quite sweet, but the most noticeable feature is the watery texture. Flavour has roasted malts and chocolate with hints of ginger. Later on there are traces of coffee and dark fruits as well, leading to a slightly fruity finish. This is reasonable though somewhat thin.
