Immense tan head, building up upon opening, near-black beer. Stable head with textbook lace. Dry-ish, but also dark malts, dark candi sugar, green leaves. Quite dry taste, very slighly ashy, melanoidins, grain husks and roasted malts. Slight but present hopbitterness. Light body for an 8% ABV beer. Good carbonation, hopoil slick, obviously well-attenuated. OK, but not exceptional, certainly not in its "style" .

Picked this up from Beer Gonzo shop, Earlsdon, Coventry and consumed at Farewell to the Oddington Arms & Neil (Nellie) Friday 20th April 2018 on a stunning sunny day. Pours a murky edging towards black colour. Fruity and bitter but softened out by the yeastiness which really does pop this into the confusing catergory as regards beer. I liked this but only had a small amount before we had to cycle home. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.7

750ml bottle. Quasi black colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, mostly lasting, moderately lacing, beige to tan head. Yeasty fruity, minimally vinous aroma, notes of dark berries, bramble, blueberry, blackcurrant, leafy overtones, slightly chocolately, dark malty basis, minimally dusty, herbal-yeasty spiciness as well. Taste is dry, minimally tart, yeasty fruity with a vinous touch, notes of dark berries, blackcurrant, bramble, blueberry, hints of residual malt sweetness. Rather light and easy drinkable for 8% abv.

Bottle 750ml. @ [ pre-TTOD(U)RBSG17 - The Tenth Official Danish (Ulfborg) Ratebeer Summer Gathering 2017 ] @ fonefan - brugmasia house, Denmark. [ As Hopfenstark 7 Sisters / La Pléiade: Alcyone ].Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, sweet malt, moderate to light heavy hoppy, wood, fruity hops, sweet yeast, light licorice wood. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, hop abd malt bitter, wood, licorice, dark malt, fruity hops. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20170818] 7-3-8-3-15

75 cl bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty and slight fruit. Dark malty. Roasted, fruity. Slight bitter. Dsrk malty. Roasted finish. Lingering hoppy far finish.

8 3 8 3 16 Bottle shared at Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering ’17. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of toast, toffee, caramel, chocolate and grassy hops. Flavour is moderate sweet and above moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Sampled @ 10th Danish Ratebeer Gathering, Ulfborg, Day 1. Dark brown to black color, average sized beige to light brown colored head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, earthy, iron. Taste malts, dark malts, iron, raisins, quite bitter. Don’t get anything "Black IPA" anymore. Apart from the black that is. Either the saison yeast is doing something weird and wrong to the beer, or it just has an infection or something. Bleh.

Bottle, 8%. Very dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, hops and grapefruit. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, grapefruit, little pine, little yeast, sweet, liquorice and medium bitter.

Bottle, TTOD(U)RBSG17. Black, thick beige froth. Good roasted aroma, green coffee, hoppy. Roasted flavour, bitter coffee, hoppy bitterness. Finishes a little light.
