011 saw the return of Mat Bell, to Central Otago, and the forming of a close relationship with Jono Love - a handy neighbour.

Jono and Mat bonded over the unique ability to either do most things or answers most questions, or to seem like they knew how to do most things, or have at least one good answer to most questions. When they discovered that beer aided their abilities in these areas, then a true friendship was cemented.

Mat's scientific background and Jono's work ethic combined with a passion for brewing beer came to fruition as they brewed and bonded, bonded and brewed, until finally the question was asked: "Seriously, why aren't we doing this, so more people can enjoy it?" Wives were included to ensure soberness and common sense, and the Manuherekia Brewery was born!

Mat's return to Central Otago after a few years in Dunedin, has further rekindled his passion for land and labour. It is his property, the Manuherekia Brewery, is situated on and in his land that the majority of the ingredients are sourced from.

If Mat and Jono could have a beer with all who ended up with the Manuherekia brew in their hand, they would be happy men. I think you would be happy too - their company is as good as their beer.
