Yard Goat Artisan Ales is a small brewery located in the ‘Best Small Town in Indiana”. Centered on historic and charming 4th Street’s business district, alongside quaint gift and antique shops, café’s and retail establishments, all of which make it a worthwhile destination to visit. Our brews are labeled ‘artisan ales’ because of the uniqueness of our recipes, our high expectations for quality ingredients and the overall hand-crafted experience that goes into making each small batch brew we serve in our taproom. Consistency and dynamic, full flavored ales are what you can expect to find with us, from our organic lemon-grass essence sourced from Hawaii to our real fruit infused sours, we offer a robust line-up of complex flavors for any palette. Our tap room, which is located in our historic 1897 building, was completely updated and remodeled in 2020. The 29 foot bar top is made from 150 year old lumber salvaged from our construction and the brewery environment is reminiscent of the industrious railroad era that brought new businesses and breathed life into this community in its infancy and which still exists today. A ‘yard goat’ is railway slang for the work-horse engine car used to switch a train to another locomotive to continue its journey on another route. This inspiration for our brewery namesake fits our intent to honor this historic community’s past to present and represents our own hard-working ethic to always be ready for the next adventurous path in life.
