Growler at RBWG 2013 Grand Tasting. Pours deep orange with a white head. The flavor is well balanced with lots of juicy malt supported by a firm resiny bitterness. Aroma of citrus and pine.

Growler at RBWG 2013 Grand Tasting. Pours deep gold with a frothy white head. Smells great, lots of grapefruit, pine, melon. Medium sweet flavor, some gritty pine, grapefruit rind, sweet lightly toasted malts. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Mildly resinous finish, pine, ripe citrus fruits. Decent beer.

On tap at the bocktown monaca. Too nice of a place for the hillbillioes that live in that general locale. May not make it because of the prices but yet a really nice plce. This beer was simply labeled church brew double IPA. First impression is it is a pale lager in appearance. Head fades rapidly. THe intriguing aroma is that of your mate’s b/o after sex, eh quite interesting. No co2 greets my palate. I think this beer is too well behaved to be a cloying double IPA. Yes, well behaved and fresh, crispy I think. Not destructive, almost likeable and I hate IPA. YEs, on style for a well amde IPA but falls short of the terribly insulting attributes of imperial.

Sample from a 2000 bottle during the Armageddon tasting at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 12/20/2012. Cloudy orange pour with a minimal white head that disappears quickly. Sparse spots of lacing on the glass. Yeast and fruit in the nose. Full-bodied and somewhat flat with flavors of caramel, yeast and earthy malt. The finish is fruity with a yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

Had this at the RB Pittsburgh December 2012 Post Apocalyptic Beer Tasting. Very nice looking darker pour. Aroma is simply fantastic, make my mouth water. Now keep in mind, I like sour beers and this did not dissapoint. Taste is oh so nice. Lovely and easy tart feelings tingle all over. This may be the best CBW beer I can remeber. Right up there with the best old country sour ales. Same with the finsh, I should have drank more of this growler. I’m pissed beerman Dan got to take it home, jealously got the better of me. No way is this above 7%! THIS BEER ROCKS!

Sampled on cask at the brewpub this beer poured a very dark brown color with an enormous creamy beige head that left incredible lacing. The aroma was sweetish, nutty and malty with fain dark fruits, vanilla and moderate cola finishing up. The flavor was tart, bitter and malty with notes of red wine, cola, wood, nut and fig. Long bitter and malty finish with wood and cola lingering. Medium body.
