Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a clear copper body that has a slight haze and supporting a thin near white head of foam. The mild aroma is kind of sweet, a little apple-y and it has a Belgian yeastiness. Overall the aroma is on the light side. The taste is smooth and inoffensive and easy drinking and seems to lack the ‘pep’ I was thinking it was going to have. It delivers sweet malts and some apple sweetness blending into some floral notes, a bit of a mineral sensation and then a bit more maltiness leaving behind a mildly dry mouth feel.

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting VI on 10/03/2014. Dark brown-black pour with a medium tan head that recedes steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and slight fruit. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, berries and earthy hops. The finish is malty up front with a mildly tart berry aftertaste. Interesting, and above average overall.

Draft - Nice dark chocolate, sour cherry and a long chocolaty finish. Dark cloudy brown with almost no head. Dark chocolate and sour cherry, really tasty and well done. Flavours are balanced and it doesn’t taste like Black Forrest Cake.
