Sample from growler. The beer pours a clear pale amber-gold color with a medium foamy white head that dissipates steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and toasted malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character that has grapefruit and onion notes. Some sweet malt in the background. The finish is hoppy with a citrus aftertaste. Solid IPA all around.

On tap at the source. Pours with a black hued body and a medium sized tan head. Aromas are roasty, toasty, malty, grainy, lightly herbal with light notes of dry chocolate. Flavors are malt forward. Toasty, malty, bready and nutty. Firm finish (water profile?), low ester. Full bodied, medium carbonation. Very tasty dry stout.

Clear dark black brown colour with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, coffee, strong coffee, dusty coffee. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dusty coffee, sweet sod, ash. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130111]

On tap @ Encinitas Ale House (alcohol advertised as 7.5%). Pale blonde color, hazy. Dense white head. Aroma’s: citrus, bitter, herbal, slightly acidic with a hint of malty sweetness. Flavor is bitter, to the point of being harsh, but very refreshing. Medium bodied. Finishes with a long lasting bitterness. True Westcoast IPA!
