Fat Lizard Brewing Co. is a Finnish Indie brewery specializing in super fresh and drinkable American-style beers.

We’re located in Otaniemi, in the very heart of Espoo. As the first commercial brewery ever in Espoo, the company was founded by four fellows – Hessu, Topo, Topi and Eero – in 2014 and has been operative since February 2015. Today the brewery staff includes 15 irreplaceable characters altogether.

After many years of homebrewing and heavy testing, the recipes were just too good to keep for ourselves. It was time to build a brewhouse in Kivenlahti Rock Bay. Two years of constant sold-out storage left no beer for ourselves. So we moved on and expanded in Otaniemi with a decent sized brewing equipment going nationwide.

Now our beer portfolio contains various styles of craft beer, all made in our extraordinary way of brewing. Including internationally acclaimed gems. Drink more, drink better!

Tap at Olutexpo 2016, Helsinki. Colour is deep reddish orange with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Berries, raspberries, sweetness, hops and malts. Strong flavors but not my style beer.

Draught @ Olutexpo 2016. Pours golden color, some haze, thin white head. Tropical fruity, grapefruity aroma. Flavor has grapefruit, pine, tea, strong bitterness. Fresh. Mango notes. Pleasant.

Draught @ Stones, Helsinki. Pours dark orange with a smooth head. Aroma of juicy fruits, zesty citrus, grapefruit and raspberries, hints of caramely maltiness. Taste is smooth, fruity and juicy with some caramely malts, grapefruit and raspberries. Finish is hoppy, fruity and slightly caramely malty with some raspberries and juicy notes. Smooth DIPA with an interesting touch of raspberries. Works surprisingly well.

Draught @ One pint pub. Pours reddish amber color with a thick white head. Oily hops, floral notes, raspberries, tropical fruits. Flavor has sweet tropical fruity hops, raspberries in between, sweetness, fresh hops. Bitter finish, long. Lovely.

(Keg at Oljenkorsi, 20161013) The beer poured pinkish orange and cloudy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had pine, fruitiness, tartness and raspberries. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, pine, grass,  raspberries, creamy toffee, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had raspberries, hops, nettles and bitterness. A very tasty strong hoppy brew with berries. Balanced.

Draught @ Ota Olut! Aroma has resin, some caramel and tropical fruits. Flavour has minerals, topical fruits and some pineapple juice. A bit too dry.

Bottle 0.75l at One Pint Pub, Helsinki. Bottled on 16.8.16. Colour is clear golden with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Fruits, some sweetness, some spices, hops, Belgian yeast and malts. Quite good surprise because I was waiting for something horrible. Drinkability level OK. Looks carbonated but palate is actually quite pleasant.

Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were spiciness, fruitiness, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy, sweet and bitter. A pretty good saison but it was sweet.

(Keg at Black Door, 20160825) The beer golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness and citricness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were citricness, malts,  sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A rather thin and one-dimensional hoppy pale ale with unbalanced finish.
