Description
Mike Hess Brewing is one of the premier craft breweries of San Diego. We set out with a mission to bring people together over great beer and were early on in the craft beer revolution. We were the region’s 33rd brewery back in 2010 when our first location, then a nano-brewery, in Miramar was opened. Now, in our 10th year, we have 5 locations in California, including the “OG” spot, which has since tripled in size!

Keg tap at BrewDog Leicester. Light golden and hazy with a little bit of white head. Piney and boozy notes in the intense aroma. Waxy bitter taste with resinous flavours and pear drop notes. Long citrussy finish. Light carbonation in the mouth. Grows on me.

Keg at BD Soho, 17/08/17. Pale golden with a well presented off white head. Nose is lemon rind, big grainy wash, papery, earthy, balsa wood. Taste seemed a little washed out, lemon rind, more grains and paper, green berry funk, tarte citric background. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light pucker. Sub par for style ... delivered little.

Keg halfpint at BrewDog Bar Castlegate, Aberdeen. Deep golden colour, white head. Hoppy / piney / fruity aroma. Smooth mouthfeel. Distinctly hoppy flavour, piney / resinous and grapefruity, with enough malts for balance. Bitter aftertaste. Good beer.

Keg halfpint at £ 4.50, BrewDog Bar Castlegate, Aberdeen. Clear pale golden colour. Moderate citrussy and dusty aroma. Lemony and medium acidic flavour, hints of white wine vinegar. Refreshing, but not worth the stiff price.

Keg at BD Soho. It pours clear yellow with a thick white head. The aroma is soft, toasty grain, hay, bready, salted cracker, lemon rinse and sweat. The taste is dry, dull tartness, bready, lemon rind, toasty grain, cereal, herbal notes and lactic tang with a soft finish. Light body and moderate, foamy carbonation. A bit light washy. OK, but forgettable.
