22oz bomber pours with a dark mahogany colored body that supports a full tan head of foam. The aroma offers up dark roasted malts, chocolate, a bit of winter spices and pumpkin. The taste delivers dark roasted malts, winter spiced malt balls and some chocolate. It develops sweet malts here and there as the spices and pumpkin bubble up to the surface.

Courtesy of daknole. Growler at the Black Friday Tasting pours mahogany with mocha like head. The aroma has lots of pumpkin to go along with black strap molasses, dark roasted malts and a touch of sweet dark fruity esters. The taste is smooth with pumpkin meat notes mixing with spicy black licorice and molasses as well as dark roasted malts and snippets of sweet prunes and dates off in the background. This is tasting mighty good.

Bottle. Bronze beer with a tan head. Caramel and grapefruit aroma with light pine. Caramel and light roast flavor with grapefruit and pine. Medium bodied. Caramel and light toffee lingers with grapefruit and pine.

Tap at Man In The Moon. Clear amber with white head. Aroma and taste of caramel, light pear, biscuity malt and hay. Clean and crisp with a very soft finish.

Keg at Man in the Moon, Stockholm. Hazy mahogany colour, small head. Fruity caramelly nose. Mid sweet with light-medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Caramelly with notes of hazelnuts. Low bitterness.

Tap @ Beer Temple, sample size. Clear amber/orange color. Rather dense, off white head. Aroma’s of red fruit, caramel malts. Retronasal there’s toasted grain, aromatic hops, caramel. Flavor is fruity, malty, only lightly sweet. Light to medium bodied. Finishes with malt/grain, slightly dry and moderate bitter. I quite liked this.

Tap @ Beer Temple, sample size. Slightly hazy amber/orange color. Thick off white head. Aroma’s of herbal hops, light citrus. Tropical fruit, light sour and light malty sweetness retronasal. Flavor is bitter and moderate sweet. Medium bodied. Finish is firm bitter, earthy.

Tap @ Beer Temple, sample size. Mostly clear golden color. Dense white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma’s: herbal/floral and grassy hops, a bit minty even. Retronasal it’s moderate bitter, herbal/floral, light sweet. Flavor is moderate sweet , light bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes earthy bitter. Pretty nice!

On tap at Man in the Moon. Clear amber with a white head. Aroma of malt, biscuits, some fruit and hints of hay. Similar taste. Also caramel and citrus. On the soft side with a medium bitter finish.

Deep, dark chocolate brown body shows moderate clarity and a beige head atop that is well-retained.
Cocoa powder, sweet milk chocolate, cinnamon-pepper-like phenols and a figgy-prune thing going on translate to a malty, but still at least noticeably Belgian aroma. Soft vanilla, cellar notes and then tons of raisins and dry roast on the finish. No alcohol noted in the nose, nor flaw.
Sweet, undeniably so, in flavor, though not syrupy or cloying. There’s an anise-pepper character from the yeast, as well as light roasted notes, drying out the beer, somewhat, on the finish. Lots of vanilla, very mild acidity and pretty light on the fig character. Tastes like raisins/prunes and seems pretty well-integrated with the beer. Carbonation is moderate, fairly tight and the texture is lightly slick, with some softness from the malt. Quite drinkable, with enjoyable maltiness but certainly not very yeast-forward, which is what I most desire in a BSA.
