Description
Mike Hess Brewing is one of the premier craft breweries of San Diego. We set out with a mission to bring people together over great beer and were early on in the craft beer revolution. We were the region’s 33rd brewery back in 2010 when our first location, then a nano-brewery, in Miramar was opened. Now, in our 10th year, we have 5 locations in California, including the “OG” spot, which has since tripled in size!

Vanilla, some spice, booze. The spice has mellowed out over the last year. Very sweet. Medium body and smooth. Decent. Would be hard to drink a whole glass.

Medium copper. Toasty malt, fruity, a bit of earth and then back to the sweet fruit. Decent. Could use a cleaner profile, but solid anyhow b

On draft at Tap 25. It pours black with a light tan head. The aroma has lots of cinnamon, allspice, ginger. Hints of molasses and pumpkin pie. The flavor is nice and toasted with coffee, cocoa, light mint and cinnamon notes. Creamy on the palate. Nice spice utilization...not overdone. The roast intensity is kept in check too. Good creamy mouthfeel. Well done.

On draft at Tap 25. It pours a clear light orange gold color with an off white head. The aroma is sweet with berry and tropical fruit. Candied mango, pineapple and some decently strong caramel and florals. Sweet and hoppy. The flavor is intense with floral/herbal flavor and bitterness. Dry bready with nice wet hop earthy grapefruit character and candied caramel. Grape. Pretty nice, but a tad on the sweet side.

Pour is a murky copper with a large white head. Aroma is a pleasant pine hop with some earth malt. Flavor is again a decent and easy going pine hop with a caramel malt in the back round. This sweetness from the malt is minor and the hops are plentiful. This was a decent IPA. Decent mild hop and the malts used did not get In the way too much.

Light amber color. Fairly subdued rye nose with a bit of hop character. Fairly big rye character, fairly malty. Kinda jumps up and then goes no where special.
