Sample at Jackie O’s as part of Ohio Brew Week. The beer is a clear amber color with a medium rocky light beige head that recedes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Hoppy nose with some roasty notes. Medium body with a moderately hoppy character and flavors of roasted malt and honey. The finish is hoppy with a roasted nutty aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle 66 of 72 thanks to JohnGalt1. Pours out a brown with some mahogany highlights topped with a small tan head. Aroma is of light smoke, peat, some caramel and chocolate sweetness. Taste is more of the peat, light smoke, some pit fruit, bourbon, vanilla, and a little oak. Another short run from Jackie-O’s always fun to try super small batch stuff. Thanks again Toby

Bottle 26 of 72 Once again a nig thanks to JohnGalt1. Pours out a black topped with a small tan head just hanging on around the edge of the glass. Aroma was of rich dark roast, vanilla, light pit fruit sweetness, and a little cocoa. Taste was more of the dark roast and vanilla. A nice sweet and bitter end with molasses and cocoa showing threw.

22oz bottle shared by Doug, thanks man #76/156
Appearance: Pours black with a small tan head and some lacing
Aroma: Roasted malts, chocolate and metallic
Taste: Dark malts with tart fruits.
It tastes like it was slightly infected, it’s possible this was intentional. But the flavors didn’t mesh, it was footbalmed

Location: Bottle at Max and Andy's Fantasy Tasting, 5/1/10

Aroma: The nose on this one is boozy (bourbon), spice, roasted malts, and oak
Appearance: The pour is dark brown-black in color with a beige-brown head
Flavor: The bourbon is also strong in the flavor of this malty, spicy, and boozy brew
Palate: This one feels rather rich, and is certainly boozy (the booze are probably too hot)
Overall Impression: Not a bad beer, but I like a little less bourbon in my beer then this. If I wanted to drink bourbon, I'd have gotten a bourbon. Otherwise, it has some interesting flavors, and seems to have a pretty good complexity to it, so I'm certainly not going to go too low.

The finish is oaky with a roasted malt and tart fruity aftertaste. Above average overall.

Interesting beer but it suffers from a thin feel. The beer has a good aroma - cherries, wine, chocolate, roast. Feel was oddly watery and it really washed out the flavor. I don’t quite know what I’m reacting, but recently, I’ve had a few barrel-aged beers that seem to have really thinned out in the barrel.
