Draft. Deep amber body with a short, fizzy white head. Aroma of toasted grain, caramel, herbs. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The caramel notes of classic English style ESBs are muted in this beer by the bitterness which lingers into the finish. Hop flavors are muted as well.

Draft. Deep brown, approaching black, body with a fizzy tan head, slowly diminishing. Aroma mostly smoke and sweet malts — caramel and toasted grain — with a hint of chocolate. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter with the bitterness lingering. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. The smokiness is far from overpowering and that’s nice. The sweet malts and bitterness round out the beer, though neither contribute much on the flavor end.

Draft. Deep amber body with a short off-white head. Aroma mostly bourbon, but not enough to completely mask notes of rye, wood. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture and moderately to lively carbonation. The alcohol, though only 7%, is apparent in the finish. Bourbon taste mostly, but a taste of rye bread underlies it. Lacks complexity. Easy drinking.

Draft. Black body with a tan head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of roast, caramel, resin, pine with hints of coffee and pine. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Most of the aromas and tastes are understated which is fine with me. Strong roast combined with strong citrusy hops don’t work for me. The balance here is good. Nice lingering bitterness.

Tap (growler). Rye bread and alcohol aroma. Reddish amber color with moderate head. Lightly sweet rye malt and lightly bitter herbal flavor. Light alcohol finish. Nice - a bit boozy and rye flavor on the light side but an easy drinking beer.

Tap (growler). Smoked meat, hay and malt aroma. Opaque black-brown color with moderate head. Smoky wood, light chocolate malt flavor with a mild bitter herbal hops finish. A bit funky. One of the hoppiest smoked beers I’ve ever had.

Tap. Toffee malt with cherry notes. Dark reddish brown with small head. Slightly sweet toffee, cherry flavor with mildly bitter herbal hops finish. Very tasty - hides its strength well.
