Keg at AA taphouse, SD, 19/04/14. Clear golden amber with a moderately appointed off white swirl. Nose is caramel malt, bitter hop presence, pine, grapefruit, candied orange peel. Taste comprises caramel malt, pine needles, bubblegum, peach, pineapple chunks. Medium + body, fine carbonaiton, hop presence in the close. Well made malt forward DIPA, easy to drink, not a hop bomb.

Nitro Keg at Acoustic Ales taproom, 19/04/14. Clear pale golden with a good sized off white head. Nose is toasty malt, citric peel, bitter orange, straw. Taste comprises mosaic hops, straw, light grapefruit, citric rind, bitter orange. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with subtle hop bitterness, smooth and comforting on the palate. Decent enough APA but I think the nitro serving may take the edge off it a little?!

Draft at the Encinitas Ale House - Encinitas, CA. Pours mostly clear brown with a fine, foamy off-white head. Basic toasted malts in the aroma with suggestions of coffee. Light to medium sweet flavor with lightly dry and toasty brown bread, faint earthy bitterness, hints of dusty cocoa. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Further toasty brown bread on the finish. Tasty if a bit simple.

Draft at Biergarden - Encinitas, CA. Pours lightly hazy amber with a creamy topping. Very piney with lots of sticky grapefruit rind. Fairly sweet, heavy on the palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A bit too sticky and resinous in general, which holds it back. Still OK but lacks balance.

On tap @ Encinitas Ale House, December 2012. Color: more or less black. Not much (beige) head. Aroma’s: roasted malts, chocolate, coffee/mocha, with some funkiness retronasal. Flavor: medium sweet, roasted, coffee, some acidity. Medium bodied. High carbonation. Finishes roasted, ash, somewhat dry, medium bitter, chocolate. Maybe not that original anymore, but quite tasty.
