One of the $1.99 off-the-rack singles at the local HEB, good deal since this is a style that I mostly enjoy. Pouring inside of my Cowtown tulip glass, I determine an interesting brown-orange liquid finished by a strong head of light tan foam. The scent is grain and toffee. I lift the glass for a taste, sorghum, caramel, hay and honey to go with the caramel sweetness. Nice density. Not like any bock I have had before.

Can. Dark reddish copper with a medium off-white head that slowly recedes to a fine film. Aroma is big with sweet malts, caramel and mixed dark fruits. The taste, like the aroma, features sweet dark fruits, toffee, pecans and grainy roasted malts. The palate is full and viscous. Finishes short and semi-sweet. Overall: Decent American doppelbock. paired with some pretzels.
