Got in a BIF from jdell15. 12 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 6/14/2017. Pours slightly hazy dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of nuttiness, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of roast/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of nuttiness, smoke, char, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark/brown bread, nuttiness, smoke, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is an awesome schwarzbier! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Clean and rich Munich/roast malt flavors, with balancing noble hops. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Got in a BIF from jdell15. 22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/17/2016. Pours lightly hazy dark ruby red, light orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, red apple, red grape, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of nutmeg, peppercorn, clove, ginger, cinnamon, banana, bubblegum, cocoa, toffee, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity yeast, dark/bready malts, and light spice notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, prune, cherry, fig, date, apricot, red apple, red grape, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, and toasted brown bread; with lighter notes of nutmeg, peppercorn, clove, ginger, cinnamon, banana, bubblegum, cocoa, toffee, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and yeast tang/spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruits, cherry, apricot, red apple, red grape, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, nutmeg, light pepper/clove, toffee, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malts, and light spice notes; with a nice malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/tangy mouthfeel that is nice, Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is a very good Belgian strong dark ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malts, and light spice notes; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. I expected way more spices from the description. Super stone fruity and sweet, not as peppery on the yeast as I would have preferred. Well balanced malt and yeast flavors, with nice all around complexity. A very enjoyable offering.
