Massively successful, and ever full of vip and vinegar, Arrogant Bastard Ale split off from the restrictive confines of Stone Brewing in 2015. And now, the brethren of Liquid Arrogance is free to explore, cavort and roam how they damn well see fit. For those Worthy few that wish to gaze upon the musings of Arrogant Bastard Ale, Double Bastard Ale, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Arrogant Bastard or other Bastard beers, follow along via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Arrogantbastard.com.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours classic gold with a nice fluffy foam, white and fine. Aroma is both cereal and herbal, flowery. Body is average, with good carbonation. Taste is medium-high bitter, pretty challenging for a pilsner. Final is slightly long with bitterness.

0.5 l can from Goblet Beer Store, Zagreb. Shared with little Dina. Clear golden, small white head. Aroma is herbal or spicy, mint or basil? Obvious hop character. Grainy background. Flavour quite hoppy again, spicy, herbal, grainy. Quite bitter. Moderate to high carbonation. Piquant! Dry finish, bitter and aromatic. Good beer, not a typical Pilsner.

Cloudy copper with a well-lacing yellowish head. Aroma: honey malts, dried fruit, candied fruit, hops. Medium body. Average carbonation. Taste: medium dry, malty and hoppy. Dried fruit. A hint of barrel. Medium to heavy bitterness. Quite good still of controversial balance.

Hazy pale with a thin head. Good pale malts are full, herbal hops decent if a touch old at this point. Modest bitterness but overall a drinkable pils.

Pretty good Pilsner. The Aromas are fresh cut grass, pale malt and a little citrus. Flavors are like nose, a little sweet upfront with some bitterness in the Finish. Good body, carbonation and nice beer overall

Too far into the capsaicin madness for me. General Double Bastard bitter, oozy thickness is prominent, as is an oaky bitter back end, but it all gets blown away by the insane pepper heat. Vegetal finish only adds to the pepper overload, as does the nose, which comes off like a bowl of sliced serranos. As most criminals, I prefer the Crime to the Punishment.
