Draft @ SRB. Pours a dark brown with two fingers of thick, creamy brown head. Good retention and light sheet lacing. Smells like chocolate milk and then vanilla. Tastes like it too! Really good cocoa and vanilla flavors before ending with a moderate bittersweet cocoa and roast tail. Incredibly smooth and creamy. Blows the original out of the water, imo. Really really nice. Best beer brewed here so far, IMO, each visit gets better.

Draft @ SRB. Hazy caramel pour with a thick finger of beige head. Nice retention and tons of sticky lacing. Mild aroma… really mild. Floral and citrus, faint tropical fruit. Good hop flavor; citrus and florals. Sweet. Plently of caramel malt to hide the advertised 100 IBUs. Such an easy drinker; the hops are there to taste and enjoy instead of stomp on your palate. The board read 7.2% ABV and it sort of snuck up on me… one and done.

Draft: Dark brown pour with a finger of creamy tan head, Nice lacing. Mild aroma is rosty, lightly bittersweet. At first sip this seemed fairly bland, but as it warmed the roast and coffee came through much better. As is warmed a bit I ended up enjoying this much more. I’d call this a placeholder rating; I need to get another pint of this at the right temp.

Draft: Golden yellow pour with a creamy white head. Nose is citrus, floral, and caramel. The florals take the backseat for the citrus presence and it works nicely with the bready and caramel malt. Fair amount of bitters, but not abrasive it any way... has sort of a wet feel.

Draft: Light golden pour with a finger of creamy white head. Mild nose is inviting with citrus, caramel, and florals. Taste is citrus forward, but crisp with wheat and bready malt. Like the saison, this is a little overtake from the beaten path, but refreshing and enjoyable. I could see this being a pub favorite...

Draft: Hazy golden color with a sticky white head. Citrus, grain, and yeast in the nose translates well into the flavor. A very drinkable interpretation of the style, more of a wet mouthful and the yeast is kept in the background. Good citrus (orange peel) flavor and soft florals. I’ve had enough saisons to say this is a departure from the normal drier and more carbonated saisons that I’ve come to love, along with this having minimal yeast flavor. Probably won’t score well from traditionalists... still, this was refreshing and I would have it again anytime. The best ale sampled during my visit to Souris River.
