Description
Kalispell Brewing Company is the city’s first independent craft brewery located in historic downtown Kalispell, Montana. Founded in 2012 by the husband-wife duo, Cole Schneider and Maggie Doherty, the English-major, former ski racing, beer-loving couple launched their love of beer and brewery culture by resurrecting the former Hendricksen Motors building on Main Street. After a long, and often arduous renovation, Kalispell Brewing opened its doors in the summer of 2014.

On tap at Kalispell, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma reveals harsh roasted malt, harsh hops, and some dry cocoa. Flavour is a wallop on the palate, with a pummelling intensity from both the roasted malt and hops. Dry, roasted and bitter finish. Mean impie.

On tap at Kalispell, pours a hazy dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted malt, with caramel and some toasted nuts. Flavour is very sweet, with lots of cloying caramel and candied sugar. Needs more dry bready malt to balance this. Okay but hard to drink at this sweetness level.

On tap at Kalispell, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out dry cocoa, intense roast, and quite a bit of bittering hops in there - this is no weakling stout. Flavour confirms this, with harsh roasted malt, intense hops, and dry cocoa. Big and bold, this is very well-brewed.

64oz growler pours with a clear pure gold body that supports a white head. The aroma offers up spicy hops, some floral hops, and then an inviting cracker maltiness. The taste delivers a pleasing crisp fresh spicy hoppiness that’s ringed thinly with floral hops. To midway and into the finish a terrific cracker malt character. Wow, not sure how to style this is but it is hitting the spot right now. Tasty indeed with plenty of crispness and enough hop influence to make it refreshing.
