Description
In 1857 werd in Maastricht Brouwerij De Ridder opgericht en dat was tot 1982 een familiebedrijf. In 1982 werd de brouwerij gekocht door Heineken. Brouwerij De Ridder brouwde op dat moment drie verschillende bieren: Ridder Pils, Ridder Oud Bruin en Ridder Maltezer.

Heineken besloot eind jaren 80 van de 20e eeuw om twee nieuwe bieren van De Ridder te introduceren: Ridder Bock (1987) en Wieckse Witte (1988). Door de toenemende vraag naar m.n. Wieckse Witte besloot Heineken eind 2002 het bier voortaan geheel in de eigen brouwerijen te laten brouwen. Hierdoor kwam De Ridder in december van dat jaar leeg te staan.

In september 2021 is er door Heineken gestopt met het Wieckse merk.

Milky yellow, lowish white head. Banana and oranges - somewhere between a bavarian and belgian wheat. Thinish body. Not very inspiring.

Very pale and very flat looking wheat beer with a slightly watery aroma. The flavour is fairly weak, mainly consisting of a banana undertones with a large hint of dryness. A disappointing wheat beer due to the low refreshment aspect.

Clear light yellow color. Typical commercial brew. Very flowery and citrussy aroma. Wheat-like taste, with flowers. High carbonation, but a small head. Pretty refreshing palate. Bit winey, brewn with champagne yeast according to the bottle, which is something you can distinguish out of the different flavors, but it is not something i'd like to taste in beer.

Pale white color, with small head. Yeasty, flowery aroma. Not the spicy, citrussy flavor as i expected, more yeasty. Hmm, not really a good belgian white...

Sampled draught at Schiphol Airport, Netherlands.
Pale yellow and cloudy with dense creamy head. Big orange aroma. Sweet with mellow body and just lightly spicy. After a promising start it falls of the road into a pit full of metal and syrup.

A nice wheat from Maastricht, the Netherlands, but not as good as the original Hoegaarden White.
