Founded in 1650 by Heinrich de Lapière, the Autenried Schlossbrauerei (castle brewery) was owned by the nobility until 1912. The family tradition begins in 1912 when Alois Rudolph bought the brewery. In 1964 Alois Rudolph handed over the business to his nephew Leonhard Feuchtmayr. Rudolf Feuchtmayr has been running the Autenried Schlossbrauerei since 1993. 750ml bottle. Cloudy amber colour with huge, frothy to creamy, lasting, off-white head. Fruity aroma has notes of apple, banana, decent yeasty and minimally spicy background. Taste is initially fruity, apple, pear and banana, a touch of citrus, decent yeasty and spicy overtones, clove, later slightly sweeter and with more weight on the fruity side, again more balanced in the finish; average to lively carbonation. Absolutely successful anniversary beer with a plethora of subtle fruity and spicy flavours. Well done!

Aroma is rather malty with chocolate and some nuts. Flavour is malty with chocolate, nuts and some woody notes. Also some berries at the end of the glass. Slightly tart finish with some warming alcohol. Quite typical doppelbock – and good.
