Description
Offering unique hop-forward ales, crisp lagers, barrel-aged rarities and one of the Northwest’s most extensive wild & sour programs, Block 15 produces a range of artfully crafted beers, brewed with a nod toward fresh ingredients and fresh thinking.

We began serving up fine beer and food at our downtown Corvallis brewpub in 2008, and have since opened up a European-style pub—Caves Bier & Kitchen—as well as the Block 15 Brewery & Tap Room in south Corvallis. We are proud to have remained brewer-owned from day one.

Our 20bbl production brewery, built in 2015 and located in the shadow of the coastal range in south Corvallis, is the workhorse of our brewing operations. In addition to an increased-capacity brewhouse, our production brewery houses custom-designed Uni-tanks, a custom-fabricated mixing tank, a Meheen bottling line, and a Wild Goose canning line.

Bottle shared by someone at work (PMR maybe?). Pours with a hazed yellow hued body with a small white head. Aromas are very fresh and vibrant strawberry, some medium funk, jammy, wet hay, light barrel. Flavors show some zingy acidity, good and jammy fruit, mild funk and some hay. What really hurts this beer is the lack of carbonation which kills any brightness that the fruit and acidity might have. Lacking "zip" with the lower carbonation and as a result, lower body. Good, but missing a little bit.

375mL bottle, pours a completely still cloudy orange with a tiny ring of white bubbles - makes me wonder why the hell this was capped and corked. Nose of oak barrels, fairly prominent soured strawberries, and a bit of fruity sweetness. Flavour is dominated by the oak barrels, with quite a puckering berry sourness, a hint of berry sweetness though dominated by the sourness, and a bit of funk, finishing on tart, complex oak notes. Whatever the deal is with the carbonation, this is pretty solid, though could perhaps use a livelier carbonation to bring out the complexities more. Great stuff.

On tap at Belmont Station Bier Cafe, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma is huge on prunes and dates, figs too I guess, and some brandy liqueur. Flavour brings out big prune and date notes, with loads of brandy liqueur and lots of booze. Very warming and boozy, dominated by huge dried fruit notes and alcohol. Solid stuff, but the alcohol overbears a bit too much. Still, very enjoyable slow sipper.

Bottle shared by Rohit, thanks! Pours a hazy amber with a gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light tart strawberry note with some acid and a hint of creaminess. Flavor starts with tarts strawberries and is backed by a creamy grain note.

From the 11/2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 750 ml corked brown bottle this beer poured a murky orange-apricot color with a large foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was musty and dusty peach, orange and pear. The flavor was dry and bretty with notes of peach and orange. Medium finish and body. Tasty - like a fruity Orval.
