Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours a cloudy amber with an off-white head. Thick and slightly greasy caramel character with a discreet Bourbon touch. Medium body, sweet fruity, vanilla Bourbon character, a little yeast. There’s a slightly tired mouthfeel. No real hop character. 160612

Bottle. 2011 vintage. Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of sweet chocolate, vanilla beans, bourbon barrel, rich dark chocolate, dark fruits and hints of caramel and chocolate breads. Smooth. Alcohol completely hidden. Fairly light body.

Bottle. Pours muddy brown with light brown head. Nose/taste of molasses, cinnamon, maple, caramel, figs, dark fruits, brandy barrel and oak. Nice complexity with the cinnamon not overpowering the palate but mixing well with the other flavors. The brandy barrel aging also works well with some distinct brandy notes in the finish. Medium body.

A hazed amber ale with a thick lacing light moka head. In aroma, nice Brett, barnyard, sour cherries, epsom salts. In mouth, a nice lactic offering with light buttery notes, cherries, a bit of harshness, not bad. On tap at OBF Fringe Fest Belmont Station, July 30 2011.

750mL bottle, pours orangey amber. Aroma of intense bourbon, smoked malt and tobacco. Flavour is very strong on the bourbon, big alcohol notes, caramel and more alcohol. Unbalanced and the alcohol is not well-worked, but not bad.

Bottle thanks to BA billshmeinke (another bottle on the way). Pours with a hazed amber body and a tan head. Aromas of brown sugar, vanilla, oak, bourbon, dark fruits, tannins, spice notes and some tart cherries. Flavors of oak, caramel, dark fruits, plums, bourbon and brandy. Some alcohol, but pretty smooth overall. Creamy, medium bubbles, subtle. Rich. I’ve been impressed with everything that I’ve had from these guys!

Growler pour thanks to Sean for this one. Pours out mahogany topped with a small head. Aroma was bourbon, caramel, toffee, roast malts and lots of vanilla. Taste was more of the bourbon, caramel, and vanilla. A boozy finish but very good.

2010 Bottle via a trade with DA. Pours with a murky, copper brown body with a small tan head. Aroma is pretty insane. Barrel, brandy evergreen, pine, nutmeg, dates, figs, dark fruit, and pie cherries. Flavor is very smooth, dates, earthy, light funk, barrel, brandy and caramel. A bit of a nutty finish. Very smooth (especially for the ABV). Lively bubbles with creamy carbonation. I need to try more stuff from these guys!

Firkin cask at Bailey’s Taproom’s Third Anniversary Barrel Aged Fest. Pours out a golden topped with a small white head. Aroma was finger nail polish almost (well maybe not that bad or strong). There were also some light floral notes and a little fruit. Taste more of the polish and a little barnyard funk.
