HIISI was founded in 2013, to fill a rather selfish need; We want to brew beers that we’d like to drink ourselves. Even if we do this for a living now, we still consider ourselves hobbyists of beer – it’s the flavor and meaningfulness of the beer that counts. We believe that, instead of just a beverage and means of intoxication, beer is an experience. Beer should be aromatic, nuanced and balanced, multi-sensory by nature. In addition to brewing great beer, we want to enjoy ourselves. We are here to develop interesting concepts with interesting people. We enjoy translating Finnish mythology and its lesser-known aspects into beers with character. We look for new ingredients and processes to continuously improve our craft and knowhow. We study, we try. We make our own. We will not educate others on the importance of rules, as we often do not follow them ourselves. We don’t concern ourselves with the reinheitsgebot, and we do not consider ourselves to be above any style of beer. That’s HIISI. Beer, against boredom.
330ml Bottle - Golden with a white head. Passion fruit, grass and grain in the aroma. Passion fruit features in the slightly sweet taste alongside notes of vanilla, grass and grain.
Bottled 330ml (KCM Puuvilla) Pale amber colour, small white head. Light bready aroma, some sweetness. Light-bodied, watery. Quite hoppy for Märzen. Light caramel in the finish. Tolerable.
A golden beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has maltyness, some grass, mild. Taste has smoothness, maltyness, bitterness of grass. Medium bodied. Smooth maltyness and also some bitterness.
Bottle at home, NIvala (as Könssittävä Talssi). Enjoyed straight from the bottle. Aromas and flavours: Some fruits, some sweetness, grain, malts... sweetish but pretty tasty.
33cl bottle, thanks oh6gdx. BBE 251122. Poured almost clear and light golden in color. Thin head. Citrusy and bitter, some yeasty notes, malts . Perhaps not the freshest anymore.
Mild smell of bread, malt. Amber colour, white head. Aroma of bread, malt, some earth. Finishes slightly stuffy. Light body, but decent for 3.5%. Medium sweet.
From keg @William K, Kurvi, Helsinki. Poured almost clear and golden in color, thin head. Malty slightly fruity aroma and flavor. Fairly dry, medium bodied.
Wow, BB 2017? I can taste everything advertised but it doesn't come together anymore. I don't trust this shop. They had a cool-looking green bottle from Fantôme but it was placed on the shelf in front of a spotlight. This place knows nothing about beer.
