(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 110515, at Pikkulintu, 20141114) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had caramel, molasses and grass. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, caramel, grass, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, sweet and bitter. A nice and clean malty pale ale.

Bottle 0.5l at Kitty’s, Helsinki. Colour is dark brown with small white head. Aromas and flavors: Coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Basic mild porter but nice.

Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were coffee, burnt malts, molasses, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, burnt and bitter. A nice, clean and mild porter with a bit too much burnt flavours.

A colabrown beer with a quite weak and beige head. The aroma is nice and surprisingly rich, chocolate, some coffee and even liquirice, some ryebread. Taste is roasted with coffee, some chocolate, also some hops.The end is slightly too short due to quite light body, mild carbonation. Positive and good beer, balanced with enough of flavours.

Aroma is rather nutty with grain, toffee and some hayish malt. Flavour has nuts, some malty tones and distant coffee tones. Feels somewhat dry. Finishes with English hops, toffee and some grassy & grapefruit-like bitterness. The roastiness level is not as deep as porters usually have; this could be an (Englsh) brown ale as well.

Draught @ Pikkulintu as ”Iso Vaalea”
Sweetish aroma with peaches, toffee and malt. Flavour has grain and some toffee. Finishes with hayish malt and hints of grassy hops. Feels like a mellow bitter and is actually quite close to their Kölsch. Clean and very easy to drink, but lacks character. Works well as a thirst quencher.

(Keg at Pikkulintu, kegged on 20140926, 20140929) Rated while sitting next to the brewer who was dissatisfied with the end result. Aroma had fruitiness and malts. Palate was quite light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were quite watery and had fruitiness, hint of pine, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste was thin and had hops and bitterness. Could have been better. Score: 2.7
(Re-rate, a keg during the filling of which the oxygen leakage was fixed, 20141018) This time the hop flavours were very clearly present. Initial flavours were fruitiness and citricness and the beer finished herbal. Aroma was still missing.

Clear chestnut brown color, small steady beige head. Light nose has some caramel, hops and yeast. Light-bodied, almost watery. Very clean with light caramalt and then light spicey German-type hoppyness. Clean but quite uninspiring. Probably the best with food.

Pours copper orange with a small head. Aroma of malts, nuts, earthy notes and toffee. Taste is smooth, malty and bready with some nutty earthiness and toffee notes. Finish is malty, bready and slightly earthy. Quite smooth and easy going.
