Description
Saimaa Brewing Company on yksi Suomen vanhimmista yhä toiminnassa olevista pienpanimoista. Juuremme ulottuvat vuoteen 1995, jolloin ravintoloitsija Pertti Oksa aloitti oluenpanon Mikkelissä 200 litran ravintolapanimossa.

Draught @ HBF ’14
Aroma is quite nothing with some roastiness and bread. Perhaps also a hints of liver casserole. Flavour has roasted tones, bready notes and hints of berries. Perhaps also some chocolate tones. A basic dark lager anyway.

A golden beer with a big and blond head. The aroma is lemony, also sweet citrusfruits, sweetness and some tangy lemon zest. Taste is weird mix of light malts and lemon, then tangy and sharp lemon zest, not even fresh. Light bodied, harsh carbonation. Overally, slightly like mead with strong lemon, the taste is unpleasantly sharp and unbalanced. Weird.

33cl from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. Pours hazy orange with a white head. Fruity aroma with notes of bananas, wheat, yeast and hints of spices, alcohol and soap. Medium sweet with hints of sourness and a light bitterness. Medium body with fairly average carbonation.

Can (from Prisma, Vaasa). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is grains and lemon with some slight sugary notes as well. Flavour is grains, strange sweetness, mild lemon and quite a bunch of tea leaf like notes as well, which also give a kind of simulated bitterness kick to it. Did the Finnish market really need this one? No...

Draught @ Bruuveri
Aroma has grainy malt, some gooseberry bush and hints of peaches. Also hay Flavour has peaches, some grainy malt and grassy hops. Palate has some stinging CO2 and feels a bit harsh. Finishes with stronger grassy notes. A bit stuffy but decent anyway.

Tap at Bruuveri, Helsinki. Colour is slightly cloudy light orange with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Grain, some sweetness and malts. Quite malty for a lager and much better than regular Marsalkka IV.

Tap@Bruuveri
Slightly hazy golden color, small white head. Grainy nose, some odd berryish notes. Medium-bodied. Fruity (candy) malty flavor. Sweetish aftertaste. Soft palate, unfiltering cuts the edges. Decent in Marsalkka scale.

Bottle 330ml (Alko)
Slightly hazy golden color, small white head, lace. Grainy aroma with notes of citrus. Medium-bodied. Citrus, mango fruit ... very grainy flavor with alcohol. Kind of harsh. Basics are ok but in the hard DIPA market this is much below average.

Bottled (from Alko Prisma, Vaasa). Slightly hazy orangeish golden colour with a small white creamy head that lasts for a while. Aroma is fruity, floral and quite bready and caramel malty notes. Flavour is very similar in most ways. A bit thin, but otherwise refreshing. positively surprising beer from Saimaa for once.
