Description
Saimaa Brewing Company on yksi Suomen vanhimmista yhä toiminnassa olevista pienpanimoista. Juuremme ulottuvat vuoteen 1995, jolloin ravintoloitsija Pertti Oksa aloitti oluenpanon Mikkelissä 200 litran ravintolapanimossa.

33 cl bottle from Alko in Vaasa. BB June, 2012. Sampled on February 26, 2012Clear dark copper color, tan smallish head. Sweet, malty, cream, metallic scent. Malty, sweet, some alcohol, a bit grainy taste. Medium to full moouthfeel, low bitterness.AS for style perhaps I’d say closer to a bock, but doesn’t matter as I as always rate for my taste and not of style. Tasty!

Draught @ Bruuveri
Pours copper red with a small white head. Aroma of caramel malts, notes of glue and yeast. Sweet and malty taste with notes of cardboard, mild hops and fruits. Finish is sticky and sweet. Unbalanced, not very good.

Bottled (from Alko, Vaasa). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is quite fruity and floral hops with some sweet crisp maltyness as well. Flavour is quite similar in a nice balance. Long and lingering fruity, floral and grassy hoppy aftertaste. A very nice surprise from Saimaan Panimo! Though it’s a bit more like an APA than IPA both for abv and hoppyness.

Bottled@Pendolino Helsinki-Tampere
I think my second ever train rating (for bottle bought from train restaurant). Yellow, clear color, small white head. Grainy, slightly grassy, sweetish aroma. Light bodied. Grainy, harsh flavor. No bitterness. Watery palate. No craft beerish at all. If this is an alias for Marsalkka III, Marsalkka is much worse nowadays.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 08/2012
Aroma is rather thin with hay and hints of fruity hops. Also some bready malt and metal. Flavour is hoppy with hay, some metal and hints of honey. It is a bit short, only the hops linger in mouth after the swallow. Some moldy cellar notes on the last sips. Thin palate. The hops are nice, but there’s simply nothing more here.

A lightly orange yellow beer with a extremely weak and blond head. Aroma is malty and biscuity, grass, slightly metallic and aromatic. Taste is also biscuity and dry, medium bitterness, and high bitterness can be noticed on dry and slightly herbal afterteste. Medium bodied, smooth and easily to enjoy. Only strong bitterness doesn’t make beer to an IPA. Simple, malty and bitter beer with a flowing drinkability.

Bottled 330ml (Alko, BB 08/2012)
Clear golden color, small white head. Aroma has fruityness, and is grapefruity, some yeasty-like twisted notes. Light to medium bodied with quite watery palate. Flavor has also grapefruity. Light lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. Basicly there is nothing wrong with this ... it just needs more malts and more hops!

Bottled@Konttori. Hazy yellow colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, wheat, herbs and some mild notes of wheat. Flavour is wheat, some yeast, mild dough and some spices. Pleasantly balanced flavour. Aroma sucks, but flavour I would say is quite ok for a German Hefe, which still isn’t my favourite beer style.
