We hang out in our garages. Saturday mornings, afternoons, long into the night. Sometimes hosting neighbors, family and friends, other times in blissful solitude, tinkering on projects, obsessing over a problem or making something great. Think of the garages in your past. You’ll remember your dad fixing a lawnmower or building a table, where he taught you to say “Yes, sir.” You can almost smell the oil and beer.
But more and more the family garage is an incubator, an enterprise zone. It’s part of the beautiful renaissance happening in the middle of this great country. So it was for Evan Rouse. Evan, from Union, Kentucky, was a pretty extraordinary kid. Because while other kids played video games and started garage bands, Evan fell in love with the craft of brewing beer. And he built a home brewery in the family garage. He was just 16 years old, not even of age.
For Evan, brewing beer was more than an idea, it was a revolution. Because from that humble start, Evan’s love for brewing has become his entrepreneurial obsession. He’s building the brewery of his dreams. And his entire family is on board, helping him get it done. (The truth is, it’s a pretty extraordinary family.)
So welcome to Braxton Brewing Company. You’re witnessing a dream coming to life. A place where ideas are born and fermented. It’s a great deal of work, but hell, that’s what makes a dream worth pursuing. This brewery celebrates determination, knowledge, and the humble pride we wave like a battle flag.

Sample at the taproom for Cincinnati Beer Week on 06/23/2017. This brew is a slightly hazy ruby-amber color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly to a dense film. Spotty lacing. Aroma of tart fruit, yeast and malt. Light-bodied with flavors of tart cherry, slightly funky yeast and bready malt. The finish is moderately sour with a cherry aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at Mellow. Pours a pitch black with a small finger of tan foam that lingers. Roasted malt nose, cherry stone. Light on the palate, dark chocolate faint cherry skin and cola-like carbonation. Dry, roasty, bitter finish. Underwhelming.

13 oz draft served in a nice chalice type glass at Braxton Labs in Bellevue, Kentucky. The pour is an opaque black with a 1 inch light tan head that leaves behind solid lace. The aroma is big pine, citrus and roast malt. The taste is a super fresh orange citrus along with the pine and finishes with a lighter roast cereal grain. The palate is medium to light bodied with active natural carbonation. Clean pine, mineral resin finish. I would have guessed this was in the 6% range, went down too easy. Nicely executed.

Can. Corn, light black pepper, barley malt, and hay aroma. Golden yellow with large off-white head. Moderately sweet toffee malt, and moderately bitter weedy hay/quinine flavor. Good body. Pretty much spot on for a Dortmunder.

Can. Cocoa, caramel malt, ash, and dry grass aroma. Medium brown with moderate tan head. Lightly sweet chocolate caramel malt and mildly bitter straw flavor. Body very light. Actually not a bad attempt of the Mild style - if it had more of a malt kick and better body, it would be a very nice beer.

Can. Orange, banana, light clove, wheat malt, and straw aroma. Hazy golden yellow with large off-white head. Mildly sweet orange, creamy wheat malt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Okay body. Minimal Hefeweizen characteristics - more of a mediocre wheat ale.
