About
It all started with a humble homebrew kit and the drive to make better beer. Tired of the same bland and dated choices everywhere, Air Force friends Eric Wallace and Dick Doore set out to make the kind of beer that excited them; beer they wanted to drink. A hobby quickly became an obsession and it wasn't long before Left Hand Brewing opened for business on January 22, 1994. Left Hand has steadily increased its production, making the Brewers Association’s Top 50 Craft Brewers list in 2012.

Feb. 2015: 355 ml bottle, as Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.0%. Black colour, low and creamy beige head. Dryish roasty aroma, notes of coffee, hints of woodwork, cocoa and liquorice. Low carbonation. Medium dry and very roasty flavour with a little lactose sweetness present, notes of strong coffee, a little dark chocolate and liquorice. Should not be drunk ice cold, cellar temperature is better.

Pretty hazy copper and bronze coloured body with a nice, beautiful one to two centimetre tall perfectly nitrogenated just off-white head. Aroma of very light malt notes with some squash here and a super mild spice note here in the nose, perhaps tempered by the nitrogen here. Full-bodied; Very strong squash flavours dominate with a lot of pure creaminess, some lactose, a lot of residual sugars and icing sugars even, with only a tiny dose of spices here - this is squash focused and very smooth from the lactose and of course the nitrogen. Aftertaste shows some rich sweetness, a lot of the squash richness that seemingly adds to the body with the lactose and cream and ending with a soft bitterness and dryness from the spices and malt. Overall, a very nice, incredibly elegant and easy-going beer with a great pungent richness from the malts, but a lot of sugars and smoothness which show nice here throughout. Great to sample and even when it's not fall, this one still works out great! I sampled this 13,65 ounce can, purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 20-November-2022 sampled in my hotel room here in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on 31-January-2023.

12 ounce can from Trenton Road Takeout. Opaque dark brown color. Rocky tan head. Subtle, roasted malt aroma hints at maple syrup and cinnamon. Flavor is faint roasted malt, maple and vanilla. Exceedingly thin bodied for the style. Bitter hops on backend. A bit disappointing, as it could have been more flavorful.

Sampled from the tap at Malcolm Yards. Pours a clear dark brown with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a rich peanut butter supported by chocolate and a hint of dark grains. Flavor has sweet peanut butter and earthy chocolate with dark grains backing.

47cl Blik van Beer Republic. Helder goudgele kleur, dunne nitro kraag. Extreem zoet, vanillesuiker, poedersuiker, koffie met melk en suiker, wat cacao, ook doperwtjes wat het geheel nog onaangenamer maakte. Ondrinkbaar zoet.

Canned. Goldeny amber colour, small white head. Aroma is milky, some nutty and mild baileys with some toast. Flavour is alcohol, some baileys, milky, nutty and some mild marzipan notes. Obscure. Not the worst.

Dark brown with a creamy, beige head. Smells like a Baileys. Taste is mildly sweet with some mild, underlying bitterness. Peanut butter lingers on the tongue. Interesting, but feels about as clean and healthy as a Snickers bar. Interesting.

Can. Dark brown color with nice off-white creamy and dense nitro head. Aroma is chocolate, roasty, a little bit grainy. Taste is dark chocolate, smooth, a bit black bread, mild bitterness in the back. Velvety mouthfeel. Nice!
