9/11/2018. Cask at the 24th Watford Beer Festival. Pours cloudy brown with a small off-white to beige head. Aroma of hops, fruit, malt, toffee, chocolate and berries. Moderate sweetness and medium plus bitterness. Medium to full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Hoppy, chocolate finish with lasting roasted bitterness.

Cask @ Salopian, the pub. Pours black with a deep mocha head. Good espresso roast coming through with some bitter dark chocolate, medium bodied. Very good flavoursome roasty stout.

Cask at Ring O' Bells, Taunton. Pours black with a light tan head. Aroma & taste: rich with roasty malts, dark berries, light smoke, hint of coffee. Medium body, soft carb, dry light bitter close. Decent straight up stout

CAsk at Cornubia - Bristol. Pours clear red-brown with a bubbly, tan head. Burnt pine in the nose, orange rind, modest roast. Light-medium sweet flavour with some grassy bitterness, more pine, burnt toast, earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Alright balance in the finish, a little resinous, some baking cocoa, more pine and grass. Sound.

Dan's Stag. Cornubia. Cask. Hazy deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi.dry, modest carbonation. Slightly ashy and thin dark malts. Floral bitterness in the mid. Modest hoppy fruits also quite bitter. Dry finish. Spicy bitter linger. Not bad.

Cask at Cornubia. It pours cloudy dark brown with a medium off-white head. The aroma is earthy, toasty action, milk chocolate, maltesers and horlicks. The taste is dry, bitter, cocoa, roasted malt, tannin, toasted pine, chewy, tannin, earth, peppery spice and coffee grounds with drying finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Ok.

Wakefield Beer Festival 2017. Golden with a glow and a sugary-hoppiness within a palatable texture, with a light bitter finish.

Ever since merry old England adopted the American craft beer movement, the country has produced an immeasurable string of IPAs, but also APAs; this is one from a young microbrewery in Bristol, from a 50 cl bottle in sufficiently fresh condition, many thanks for this one again Jeremy! Papery lacing, yellow-tinged egg-white, moussy and stable head over a pale orangey deep golden beer, hazy with visible fizz. Aroma of fresh orange juice, herb cheese, lemon zest, cheese crackers, bitter gentian root, stewed chicory leaves or indeed 'witlof', tonic water, green olives, green tea. Cleanishly fruity onset, some vague pineapple and pear sweetness but in a greenish, 'unripe' way, hard nectarine hint even but all remaining very subtle, very light sourish edge, medium to fairly strong carbonation with explicit minerally side flavours, supple and bit oily, resiny mouthfeel. Cracker-, dry cookie- and bread crust-like maltiness, supporting a long, aromatically hoppy finish, grapefruity, a tad piney and 'bitterly' floral with lots of peppery notes, but also depositing a strong, long-lasting, oily, rooty, tonic water-ish bitterness on the root of the tongue, which eventually hardly allows any of the malt juiciness to pierce through. Still 'noble', herbal and floral like your old school English bitter, but very strongly and explicitly amped-up with a generous dosis of New World hops, adding a load of citrus peel- and pine-like flavours - and thus fully qualifying as an APA, or, with this degree of hop bitterness, even an IPA. Very nice, quenching, honest and uncompromizing - a treat to the hophead in me.

Cask at the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham, Cotteridge Convention III 20/05/2017. A dark black mahogany brown coloured pour iwth a loose brown head. Aroma is tangy plum and berries, woody notes, nutty malts, some chocolate. Flavour is composed of woody tang, earthy nutty malts, dry chocolate and twiggy malts. Light liquorice in the finish. Palate is woody roast, powdered choc, twiglets.
