Description
Artzner craft beer has a very long history. It dates back over two centuries. In 1882 to be exact, Pierre Hoeffel founded brewery Perle in Schiltigheim. In 1919: Charles Kleinknecht, brewing engineer, took over the brewery and in 1930, a new brewery was built. Just before the Second World War, production reached 300,000 hectoliters. In 1971, the brewery was closed and the buildings were demolished in the 1980s.

In 2009, Christian Artzner, great-great-grandson of the founder, paid his greatest tribute to this beer by bringing it back to life. In 2015, the Perle brewery officially opened in Strasbourg, at the Plaine des Bouchers, with a brand new production facility and beers "made in Alsace"

Bottle. Clear golden with fluffy white head. Light biscuits and grains, dried apricot, very soft taste and feel with velvety orange notes and light herbs. Subtle fruity hops go into a light long lasting bitter finish. Light to medium bodied. Very nice Pilsner actually, better than most of the more experimental Perles.

Bottle from Village de la biere. Clear golden with big long lasting fluffy white head. Quite herbal at first, some light dough, lemon rind, nettles, touch of mint and grapefruit juice. Light sweet with medium bitter finish. Medium bodied with above average carbonation. Like a hopped up strong German pilsner. Decent.

Bottle from Village de la biere. Clear golden with small white head. Light stone fruits, grass, lemon, flowers, light touch of mariuana. Light sweet with light bitter finish. Light bodied with crisp feel. Bottom fermented, so not really an ale, but pretty decent for what it is. Very sessionable.

bottle from Bièrerie Illkirch-Graffenstaden. Hazy golden with a creamy off-white head. Malty, slightly sweet, with spices and some tropcial fruit and a touch of alcohol. Too much going on for my liking, but still quite good.

Clear blond beer, big frothy to creamy white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, peaches, summer fruit, some banana, little grassy, sweet, citrus, bit sugary, hay, malts. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sweet and sugary start, peach candy, sweet malts, citrus, slightly sour (from the carbon maybe?). Aftertaste: sweet and malty, bit yeasty, grassy hops.

Flaska på kv. Åkern. Gyllenfärgad dryck med väldigt mycket vitvinskaraktär. Druvor, fat, syra präglar ölet i lite väl hög grad. I bakgrunden en ljus, lite starkare och sötare belgisk blond. Lite rolig men jag dricker nog hellre en riesling och en blond var för sig.

La Cave a Bulles, Paris 330ml: Pours orange/gold with white head. Aroma is corn and wheat and yeast. Taste is pretty sweet. Tastes like a sweetened Belgian ale. Kind of sticky, even for the low ABV. I was not a huge fan of this beer.
