Description
Artzner craft beer has a very long history. It dates back over two centuries. In 1882 to be exact, Pierre Hoeffel founded brewery Perle in Schiltigheim. In 1919: Charles Kleinknecht, brewing engineer, took over the brewery and in 1930, a new brewery was built. Just before the Second World War, production reached 300,000 hectoliters. In 1971, the brewery was closed and the buildings were demolished in the 1980s.

In 2009, Christian Artzner, great-great-grandson of the founder, paid his greatest tribute to this beer by bringing it back to life. In 2015, the Perle brewery officially opened in Strasbourg, at the Plaine des Bouchers, with a brand new production facility and beers "made in Alsace"

rating #7000, bottle donated by jaghana - merci beaucoup, mon ami! Hazy golden colour, stable white head. Fragrant hops, slightly grassy, with shy hay and lots of tropical fruit. Medium-bodied with a malty base that supports the hops very well. The yeasty touch adds more fruity flavours. Lively carbonation, perhaps a tad too lively. Long, peppery finish with loads of aromatic hops. Another goodie from this brewery!

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white head. Spicy, hoppy nose. Medium body, an initial sweet maltiness but then quite some massive hops come rushing in leaving a very bitter finish. Interesting actually. 120713

Bottle on balcony at my hotel on Paris, this is an above average lager, you can taste the hops, just not my style. Ok for a humid, summers evening in Paris
