Hoepfner is a traditional company. Founded in 1798, the brewery is one of the oldest still active companies in Karlsruhe. It is still brewed and bottled in the "Hoepfner Burg", built in 1896 in the east of Karlsruhe. “A breath of fresh air in old walls” expresses the will to combine the tried and tested with new ideas. A highly modern and innovative company can be found within the historic walls, which is run according to the company guidelines “Quality, Continuity and Partnership”.

(Bottle 50 cl) Rather pale for a Bock, actually not any darker than a standard pilsener, with a small creamy head. Hoppy nose with notes of alcohol. Very solid body with a marked sweetness and a warming alcohol. A potent and rather delicious brew. 220702

(Bottle 25 cl) There aren’t many German porters around, but this is one of the few. Deep reddish brown rather than black with a light brown head. Malty, roasted aroma. Flavour is full of hard roasted malt, not really burned or smoked, but it does indeed come with a long, bitter finish. 040602

Hazy blond color. Common aroma, with just a hint of hops. Dry; simple malt; quite simple hopping (low aroma profile); quite bitter at the end.

An orange beer with a small disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet malty and slightly hoppy. The flavor is sweet malty and has a nice hoppyness from a good hop sort.

Fairly dark chestnut, bright; Smoke, dark chocolate and whole wheat toast on the nose; smooth milk chocolate and espresso glide across the palate - this is a year old and the is a fusion of flavour that is hard to attain in a younger beer; late hit of alcohol, preceded by a hoppily dry finish. Like a restrained version of Harvey Porter. Considering that this is six months past its due date, this isn't showing any signs of wear and should mature nicely up to another year.
