Description
Anyone who knows the feeling of pushing boundaries also understands that a great pint tastes best when you’ve earned it. For Al Read and Nigel Tiddy, their love of the outdoors was always balanced by the beer they enjoyed at the end of each day. That’s exactly what led the two former RAF pilots into the world of hops and grains.

The name was inspired by the windswept beaches here in Lossiemouth on the Moray coast where like-minded adventurers gather to pursue their outdoor passions whatever the weather. Al and Nigel felt strongly that the brand should capture the spirit of rugged adventure found here on the edge of the Scottish Highlands. After all, a great pint tastes best when you’ve earned it.

All of our bottled beer is bottle conditioned. A small amount of yeast is added at bottling which allows the beer to ferment further in the bottle. This creates a natural soft carbonation with smaller bubbles. Light filtration and a minimum of mechanical intervention also help to retain all the vivid and defined hop flavours that our brewers work hard to get into the beer. The result – real ale in a bottle.

(Draught at BrewDog Camden, London, 16 Nov 2023) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, chocolate, oak wood, dark rum, raisins and vanilla. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, oak wood and a balanced roasty bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Rich and warming, a bit boozy but really tasty. Very nice.

Keg at BD Sheps Boost, 20/10/23. Black with a good sized tan head. Nose is a little off putting, hint of plastic, smoke, dark malts, charr. Taste comprises chocolate, spice, charr, nutty, almond, way better than the nose, dark malts. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of booze. Okay impy stout but the nose lets this one down for me.

O:6.92 V:4.49 G:6.70 C:1.95 G:13.36 T:33.42
