The name was inspired by the windswept beaches here in Lossiemouth on the Moray coast where like-minded adventurers gather to pursue their outdoor passions whatever the weather. Al and Nigel felt strongly that the brand should capture the spirit of rugged adventure found here on the edge of the Scottish Highlands. After all, a great pint tastes best when you’ve earned it.
All of our bottled beer is bottle conditioned. A small amount of yeast is added at bottling which allows the beer to ferment further in the bottle. This creates a natural soft carbonation with smaller bubbles. Light filtration and a minimum of mechanical intervention also help to retain all the vivid and defined hop flavours that our brewers work hard to get into the beer. The result – real ale in a bottle.

[33cl bottle from Beer52.] A clear amber pour (the sediment had very firmly attached itself to the bottom of the bottle) witha a thin white head and light carbonation; banana aroma; quite lively in the mouth with some banana and peach and a grainy body; then a rather sweet finish. Lacking spice and depth of flavour.

Clean copper colour with an amber highlights with a big frothy light beige head, good retention and some nice thick foamy lacing patches. Nicely blended smoky aromas over the roasted malts, caramel, chocolates ones as well and hints of coffee. The smokiness continues in the taste with some fruitiness, light sweetness from the malt base. Enough hops to cut the richness, thickness of the brew, helping a lot for the style. Gets a little hazy with every pour. Almost a refreshing version of a smoked ale with nothing being offensive, too much.
