Bottle: Dark caramel color with a thin beige head. Nose is sweet and malty, very little citrus hops. Tastes more malty than anything with a very light bitterness. Peat, smoke, and florals. Wtf? Rather earthy stuff going on here...

On tap at the Flying Saucer Fall Beer Festival. Pours with a huge head over a hazy amber body. Aroma is sweet, caramel, bready with nearly a light spice note. Taste is quite sweet with caramel that turns to soggy malt and a slightly metallic finish. A bit vegital. Light bubbles.

Bottle as Buffalo Butt; thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours a ruby amber with a three finger tan head. Nice mildly roasted malt aroma. Medium body with frothy carbonation. A hint of sour, perhaps, with mild herb/hop and light caramel. It’s certainly bitter, but in a mild way. Probably good for washing down food.

On tap at Brick House. Pours a dark brown almost black with a small light tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roasted malt with raisin and caramel. Thin mouthfeel with a roasted malt with toffee and smoke. Easy to drink a good schwarzbier from Rahr.

Another ericandersnavy production. Pours light copper with a fluffy white head of large bubbles. Aromas of lightly roasted malt and spicey/grassy hop. Medium body with loosely frothy carbonation. Flavor is kind of like a bready hoppy pilsner. The grassiness renders it slightly astringent. Sort of demonstrates how beer styles can move together. Finishes bitter, and really enjoyable. Not a NW hop bomb, but it’s bitterly bitter, and that is what counts.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow golden with a medium frothy white head that lasts awhile leaving behind good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is very fruity and yeast with citrus. Thin moutfeel with a very sweet fruit taste with a nice spicy finish. Easy to drink and very refreshing, a very good Helles from Rahr.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet spicy combined with notes of elderberries. The flavor is sweet with notes of elderberries, leading to a dry bitter and fruity finish. The body is thin. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
