Clear amber body with a small creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel aroma. Sweet malty flavor, some caramel and toastiness.

Bottle: Pours a transparent gold with a modest white head. Very pale gold and very clear. Nose is faint of lager, malty and sweet. The flavor tries to be heavy with the malt, but comes up short. Just the slightest hint of a bock. Sweet, malty, and overall light in flavor.

Bottle: Pours a hazy gold with a large, creamy white head. Nose is lagerish malt, a little honey, and a little wheat. Tastes thin with wheat tones, lager malt, and a bit metallic. Has this weird chalky sensation up front. Not good.

Bottle Pours a nearly opaque light brown. with a small light tan head. Nice soft woody cohocolate aroma. Light roasted and leathery. Flavor is of light chocoalte and of wet brown paper bags. The kind that I used to take my lunch in in 3rd grade. Not totally unpleasant, but earthy and wood pulp. Light bittrerenss that is balanced, and easy to put down. Not bad.

12oz Bottle pours out a almost black topped with a small tan head. A nice aroma of sweet, nuts, and roast malt. Tast of dark roast and sweet chocolate. Thanks Indiana_Red

Yes, has a sweet volatile aroma. Slightly darker than the ubiquitous pale yellow american lager. Has a light orange tinge. Smells like candy and tastes like candy at first. Taste is not bitter but certainly has some sort of malt bite. Initially the bitterness is interesting going from mild to medium coarse after a few sips. Cannot keep up with Victory St. Boisterous Hellerbock as far as enjoyability goes. Certainly can taste the 6%. Could use a little more sweetness. Good creamy carbonation. Overall on par with Flying Dog Heller, Hofbräu München Maibock and Rogue Dead Guy. Finish is a medium lingering industrial sides of tongue bitterness.

Randalized draught sample at ABF on 6/16/07
About as middle-of-the-road and inoffensive of an American IPA as I’ve come across. The randal filter helped add some juiciness and hop astringency, but otherwise, the hops were a bit catty and it suffered from some crystal malt, iced-tea-like hardness. But nothing to scoff at, with no real flaws. Did end somewhat loose, and the malt depth is rather lacking once it progresses to the finish (sweetness falls off very quickly, exposing wateriness and hop tea-like notes). Typical, high bitterness-to-flavor/aroma ratio of breweries not crafting upper-tier IPAs.
This one seemed only lightly filtered, with a tangerine-gold body and a massive white head that showed moderate retention and lacing.

Bottle in a mixed box from Majestic, 01-06-07. Pours dark brown with a tan head, some coffee and roasted notes, smoother creamier taste than expected but still with a pleasant bitterness and coffee flavours ringing through.

Kinda stinky. There’s a hint at melanoidiny malts, but also some sort of buttered corn note, alongside some higher alcohols, enough to make me think of crummy malt liquor. Gold, leaning toward the dark side, with a medium sized, fast, webby fake looking head. Bready and sweet, heavy, near cloying, with a mild astringency and mild corn. Some sulfur as well. Much more like a european strong lager (aka euro malt liquor) than a heller bock.

bottle - Pours clear amber with a one finger head that leaves a bit of lacing. It has a light, sweet malt aroma and tastes of caramel malts with a very mild hops presence. It’s watery and goes down easy. Lacking.
