Description
In 1824 master brewer Johann Philipp Ledermann came to the small village Döllnitz near Halle and started brewing Gose at Döllnitz Manor. The brewery continued to brew gose till WW 2. After the war the manor brewey was dismantled and the original gose was brewed at several places up till 2015.
Since 2015 we brew our "Original Ritterguts Gose" in close collaboration with Brauerei Reichenbrand in Chemnitz. This small, classic family-brewery fulfills all the requirements necessary for the optimization of our very special brewing process -- in particular the availability of open-fermentation, which we consider a primary component in making a proper gose.

Bottled@RBESG’06. Hazy pale yellow color, small steady white head. Sour nose - similar to Berliner Weisses. Sour, salty, wheat beer like fruity notes. Light sour finish. Good example of Gose-style I believe.

[At RBESG 2006] An unclear orange beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet and very spicy, but also with light notes of dust and salt. The flavor is sweet malty - I find it very sweet - and with notes of fruit - especially oranges - but also notes of the salt. I find the combination of fruit and salt very nice. Thanks Phil (MotelPogo) for bringing this.

(bottle, many thanks to EithCubes !) Hazy and cloudy orange-golden colour with a short but firm creamy white foam. Slightly sour wheaty and fruity (citrus, green apples) aroma with a tinge of coriander and salt. Moderately sour and slightly salty flavour, light bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel. Citrus-fruity and quite wheaty taste with light notes of coriander; rather dry, lactic sour and fruity finish with a light blend of coriander spice and a very pleasant salty aftertaste. Well balanced, pleasant and refreshing.

Bottle. Light hazy golden, foamy off-white head. Perfumed aroma, brett, clove, citrus, light minerally yeast, lactic acid. Flavor slightly less complex - acidic dryness, oranges, salty minerally background. Medium to light body sparkly mouthfeel. Wow, absolutely something I could drink liters of. Big thanks to EithCubes for sending a bottle!

Hazy, golden coloured, small, lasting off-white foam; fruity, citrousy, a bit sourish - a bit like "cidre" - nose; mainly sourish, slightly bitter flavour, soft MF; coriander, orange peel and salt in the finish; salty lips as a last farewell......................Very good and moreish !

Hazy golden color. Catpee, lemon, very sour nose. The mouth is a bit subdued with more sourness and catpee, lemon and wood. A sour wood like finish is facinating. This is only my second beer from Leipzig and I am starting to like this style more and more.

Tasted under the name of Ohne Bedenken Huge, near-explosive yellow, thick & collapsing head; leaving lace over funky orange-olive beer. At opening, very surprising Brett-like nose, horseblanket included, farmyard odours - very Saison Dupont-like, sulphuric, markedly citrussy aromas. Very good. Dry, wry, tart citric taste, halfway between lambic and saison, incomparable to the B. Bahnhof soup. Saltiness is virtually hidden, coriander blends in masterfully in the farmyard flavours. Further walnutpeel, mushrooms, coriander (indeed), lemon- and grapefruitpeel. Dry, near to dry-out effect, seems even tannine-like. Extremely refreshing, vying in this with Berliner Weisse. WOW! WOW! WOW! This is lightyears better than expected, and lightyears removed from the sad Bayerisches Bahnhof decoction. BIG thanks to Nat and Pivo, who supplied me with this rare beer, on which us Antwerpeners spoke 25 years ago in Kulminator, seriously questioning its existence. And one would nearly think the legend gueuze-Gose had something real after all...

Bottle at RBG Low Countries 2005 tasting session - As "Ohne Bedenken"
Creamy, white head. Good lace. Hazy, orange body. Nose of flowers, grapefruit, sweat, soap. Lightly bitter, moderately acidic initial flavour. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter (long) finish. Lightly bodied. Lively carbonation. A very fruity white beer. Truely a very fine white beer and since I’m not very fund of whities, this must be very great. :-)

Sampled draught Sinfonie, Leipzig.
This is an excellent pub in downtown Leipzig. It must be extremely rare for a pub to serve all three major German wheat beer styles (weizen, berliner weisse and gose), but this place does. And on top of this gose is the real shit. Pale orange and cloudy with average head in it's traditional long, thin glass. Acidic, lemony appley aroma. Mild acidity balanced by salt. Tart and lightly yeasty. Firm and refreshing, superbly drinkable with vital, elastic winegum finish. Stunningly unique and rich, yet so refreshing. Makes a trip to Leipzig worthwile. Please note that this is not the same beer as is available in bottle in the US.
