Description
We started out in 1996 as a small group of San Diego home brewers who simply wanted to make a better beer. In our exploration, we became obsessed with ingredients—tinkering, testing and tasting to find the perfect balance of taste and aroma. That adventurous spirit leads to award-winning beers in classic and unique styles while challenging our own tastes and expanding yours.
We’re proud of our San Diego hometown, our employees, our beers, and our fans. We think of our employees as family, and you, our fans, as extended family. You’ll see us use #BPPROUD as a badge of pride and a way to further connect with our beer loving community.

Sample at the Linda Vista location (not officially on tap yet - the brewer was kind enough to serve a sample glass out of a plastic water bottle). The beer is a hazy bright yellow color with a medium thick and rocky ivory white head that diminishes slowly. Saaz hops and fruit in the nose, with a touch of musty wood barnyarded-ness. Light-bodied and moderately hoppy with notes of spices, fruit, cobwebs and grass. The finish is midly spiced with a fruity aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Sample at the Linda Vista location. This beer pours brownish-black with a thin and bubbly light brown head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon and chocolate, along with some malt in the background. Rich body with flavors of whiskey and malt primarily, and notes of chocolate and hops supporting. The finish is oaky and malty with a lingering alcohol aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

The aroma has a bit of a smoked character, and notes of earthy malt and caramel. Medium, smooth body with toasted malt, caramel and dark fruit flavors. Bits of chocolate and hops as well. Sample at the Linda Vista location. This beer is a mostly clear dark amber color with a medium and creamy beige head that recedes slowly. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt and touches of fruit. Rich, chewy body with a somewhat medicinal character. Syrupy sweet fruits along with malt and hops flavors. The finish is tart and fruity with a mild hops aftertaste. Would be well above average but the medicinal qualities knock it down a couple pegs.

Bottled, bought in Vejle. Clear orange color, short head. Aroma is fruity, very hoppy. Bitter taste, fruity, very dry. Quite astringent. Has a weird medicinal aftertaste, of grinded pills. Overdone.

22 oz bottle purchased at Metcalf Discount Liquors on 91st Street in Overland Park, KS. Pour is orange ruby with a 2 inch off white head. Really thick pretty lacing. This beer was very pretty in my tulip glass. Aroma is piney hoppiness and some bright citrus hops. Oranges, kiwi, lemons, and a touch of grapefruit. No malt detected. Nice nose. Taste is earthy, mineral, piney hoppiness and a decent citrus blast. Really no malt to speak of, but this beer is about the hops. Palate is thin to medium. Drinkable and flavorful. Its nice to have a hop bomb like this locally available for when I am in the mood for this sort of thing.
