Bottled. A hazy amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of both hops and caramel. The flavor is sweet amtly with strong notes of hops, and a thick caramel body, leading to an OK bitter end.

(Bottle 65 cl) Pours amber golden with tiny impurities and a small, creamy white head. Fresh, citrusy, grapefruitish aroma. Quite full-bodied with some caramel and then some extremely perfumy aroma hops leaving a rather extreme bitterness. 080107

Bottle from cquiroga, sampled with badnewsbeers. Hazy orange body, thin-medium off-white head. Sugared grapefruit pulp and rinds dominated the aroma. And, the body. This is about as close as I’ve come to biting into a fresh grapefruit, a pulpy, bright, citric, bitter beer with just enough sugary malts to cut the palate-destroying hops. Quite an interesting beer, but I still tasted it a day later.

Bomber from Ledger’s in Berkley, CA;; musty wheaty yeasty, nose; slightly hazed pale gold with a medium white head and lots of carbonation; sour flavor without much else; A CALIFORNIA SOUR WITBIER? Is this a new style?

Draft at the Bistro’s First Barrel-aged Beer Fest; 5 months old 8weeks in the wood for 8 weeks; Nose of caramel and dark fruit; red with a small pink-tinged head; flavor of caramel, alcohol and grapy fruitiness.

Thanks to droopy49 for this one. This medium copper brew is topped by a large white head that leaves sticky patterns on the glass. Light bready malt aroma. The flavor is lightly sweet with a bit of hop bitterness. Light palate that finishes dry. Overall this beer just never gets going. Very light, thin and bland. Below average for the style and way below the expectations I have for what this brewery can do.

This should say "Hout Sour Ale." On Tap at Ballast’s 10th Anniv. Wow, interesting aroma of vinegar and wine. It looks like a pale ale with a clear golden color and white head but sure doesn’t smell like one. Strong vinegar smell backed up by a bit of malt. The flavor is similar to the smell with strong vinegar, sourness, tartness and tough for me to drink. Not really my bag.

On Tap at Ballast’s 10th Anniv. Golden to orange color with off white head. Nice aroma. Grapefruit, pine needles and hints of sweet malts. Great IIPA aroma. Wow, is there grapefruit juice in this? Huge hop flavor with the grapefruitiness. Some sweet malts hiding out back disguised as part of the grapefruit experience.

On Tap (cask) at Ballast’s 10th Anniv. Very dark with mocha head. Nice chocolate and black patent malt aroma. Good stout flavor with fresh chocolate and black patent malts. The malts are almost too vibrant. I get a bit of licorice too. Good beer.

On Tap at Ballast’s 10th Anniv. Copper color and a bit lacking in the “red” with nice off white head. Kind of slightly tart caramel aroma. Flavor is very nice. Full and chewy caramel malts with a big hop back bone. Very fresh tasting and delicious.
