We started out in 1996 as a small group of San Diego home brewers who simply wanted to make a better beer. In our exploration, we became obsessed with ingredients—tinkering, testing and tasting to find the perfect balance of taste and aroma. That adventurous spirit leads to award-winning beers in classic and unique styles while challenging our own tastes and expanding yours.

Draft. Amber beer with a nice white head. Faint malt/hop aroma. Malt flavor comes through (somewhat bready). Low hop bitterness, and what there is shows up as grassy and citrus.

Thanks to Foolish_Mortal for this fine Ballast Point! This pours a brilliant Copper that fills the rest of the glass with a tall sticky merengue head. Pine aroma, their hopping seems to be similar for their other two bottled brews and it’s not bad. Well balanced, with hoppy bitterness and caramel malt playing out the two roles well. When in SD, don’t overlook this "other" brewery!

This pours a clear deep amber body with a big sticky off white head. Nutty malt aroma. Sweet malt flavor balanced, with hops playing a minor role in this one. Well done and very enjoyable brew! Thanks to Foolish_Mortal for sending this one!

Thanks to Foolish_Mortal for this! Pours dark with a nice light tan head and a deep brown body that glows red around the edges. Nice chocolate aroma that comes right up to meet the nose. Smooth, full bodied palate delivers a well rounded flavor that has everything a good Porter should have. A nice one worth seeking out.

A hazy orange beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy combined with notes of grass. The flavor is hoppy and grassy, leading to a dry hoppy end.

Orange amber ale with a restrained citrusy hops aroma. Nice malt base with respectable hops. Very hush-hush, all in moderation type of IPA, very well balanced. Like a British buttler. Thanks guys!

Bottle. Deep amber-red beer with a HUGE thick off-white head. Citrus hop aroma with some sweet malt backing. Needed to wait a few minutes for the head to die. Citrus and a little pine hop flavor with malty sweetness. Finish is too clean and hops don’t linger much on the aftertaste.

Clear orange coloured body with a thinnish white head. Aroma of curacao, sweetness and an odd meaty scent. Medium-bodied; Hoppy taste-good malt but less hops than expected. Aftertaste clean and fresh-no reminder of the hops at all! Thanks to jeffc666 care of MilkManDan for this beer! I sampled this 65 cL bottle at the November RB party at Founder’s in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-November-2004.

Draft. Somewhat darker-amber colored beer. Big grapefruit aroma. Thick, rich malt backing. Fruity/resiney flavor that also has some lighter fruit to go with the typical grapefruit/citrus (possibly peach/apricot). Nice all-round beer.
