Dark brown color. Light brown head. Dark fruit, plums, big roasted malt, chocolate cake in the nose. Big roasted malt backbone with tons of dark fruit , chocolate cake and dates. Pretty big bitterness at the end. Fairly sticky and full body. Warming finish. Very rich and intense. The is an alcohol numbing which lingers in the mouth. I personally liked that as it wasn’t over the top, but agree with others this will be fantastic with more time. I would love to revisit in a couple years.

Tallboy can from Tanakaya drank straight from the can. Huge grapefruit and tangerine nose upon opening. Light bodied but the hides the abv well. Very crushable with more tangerine and some light dekopon notes on the palate. It’s got great balance between sweet, bitter and even a little tanginess from the nectarine and dekopon notes. Finish is dry with more citrus. Really nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Eliot IPA on 29 Mar 2016 at 19:48 - Score: 7. Original review text: This is great and only 514 yen plus tax. Great citrusy bD tropical IPA with a good pithy fruity finish!
