Description
Since 2008, we're running the Beer Freakshow, pushing the boundaries of the Italian craft beer scene. If you do not do it our way, we do not do. Classic styles and innovative beers, Belgian or American traditions: on the whole, the mark of Toccalmatto. Luppolature exotic and extreme experiments on yeast and fermentation, exploring new tastes and flavors using fruits, spices, aged in cask. Always and only beers of character.
In 2017 the brewery was sold to the Belgian entrepreneur Eric Coppieters and his Brasserie 28.

750 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.5%. Cloudy dark brown colour, big to moderate beige head. Lovely aroma of American hops, fruity, piney and resinous notes. The flavour is extremely hoppy from start to finish, but has also a substantial malty sweetness. A bit too much of both sweetness and hops, IMHO. Still, clearly a craft brew well worth samling.

Bottle from Decanter, Milan. Shared at Slothez’s gaff. Dark amber pour with a slight haze and a good sized and lingering off white head. Nice fragrant hoppy nose. Caramel malts, summer fruit and grassy hops in the flavour. Hoppage relatively understated. A really pleasant and drinkable IPA. Love the label too.

Draught Huge, very dense & fine yellowish tinted head over faintly hazy golden-ochre beer. Hoppy nose, somewhere between USa and EU hops, and dry spices abounding. Citrussy hops dominating the taste, with rootspices. Unfortunately, stripped of those spicy hops, preciously little remains to be tasted. Light to medium bodied (served too cold), dropping a bit dead. Easy drinking hopbeer, but not really innovating Italian.

Bottle@Enoteca Decanter, Milan. Mamma mia! I wasn’t prepared for quite how awesome this beer is. What a great label..... Poured a hazy dark amber colour with a gradually fading tan head. Glorious aroma, with buckets of cheesy, spicy hop and fruit, the caramel maltiness is just like the business end of a creme caramel, bloody lovely.. Great full, creamy body. The hoppage in the flavour is just wonderfully understated giving a divine level of bitterness that is just bang on the money. This just oozes class. Catch this wave. My 900th Rate.
