Description
Back in 2009 a few of us craft beer enthusiasts and history buffs from Cheboygan shared an idea. We dreamed of reestablishing a proud local brewery, one out of production since the wave of prohibition captured northern Michigan like it did the rest of the country. We imagined brewing fabulous beers that respected the heritage of the original recipes and brought time honored brewing techniques and a few brewmaster secrets to the table.

Like the brewers who first made beer in Cheboygan beginning in the 1800s, we begin with the clean, cool water from the Great Lakes watershed. Combined with the choicest malts, and our brew master's keen attention to detail, we are creating beer that is the nectar of the north country!

Clear golden coloured body with a white head about a centimetre tall. Aroma of oranges, grain, light curacao, coriander seed, wheat, citrus and a bit of pure honey - very nice and strong. Medium-bodied; Strong rich wheat and citrus flavours dominate with a lot of grain, curacao and a little bit of honey sweetness. Aftertaste shows a lot of citrus and full orange flavours along with a bit of grain, unfinished yeast and a lot of honey sweetness throughout. Overall, a very strong and well-structured beer that goes down easily, but still shows a lot of flavours - and most of them good. Definitely worth sampling, if you can find this, especially in the summertime! I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 24-July-2015 for US$2,29 sampled at home in Washington on 09-October-2016.

16 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 6/1/2016. Pours lightly hazy pinkish golden/straw color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Awesome appearance. Aromas of lightly tart blueberries, cracker, corn, white bread, vanilla, cream, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of blueberry, lactose, pale malt, and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart blueberries, cracker, corn, white bread, vanilla, cream, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of blueberries, cracker, corn, white bread, vanilla, cream, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for as good bit. Damn nice robustness and balance of blueberry, lactose, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light increasing dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/grainy, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 3.5%. Overall this is an excellent fruited cream ale! All around great blueberry, lactose, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 05/12/2015. Aroma is fairly orange forward and citrusy with some sweet honey notes and light wheat. Fairly sweet aroma. Pours a hazy, pale, yellow gold with a medium large, somewhat frothy, white head that exhibits decent retention as it falls into itself. Some lingering head on the edges with clumps in the middle. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with some medium wheat notes. Quite a bit of orange and honey character. Medium light bitterness. Some light floral and herbal hop notes in the background. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but you have to want a beer with a lot of orange and honey character. It’s fairly sweet too, but easy drinking.

Shared a 16-oz can, poured to a pint glass. It didn’t have the standard floral, citrusy IPA taste; instead it offered bitter straw with some malt character. Not a standout but a decent beer.
